My coworker here saw some documentary (dunno which) showing some behind-the-scenes stuff from the new movie(s). They said that the filmmakers were highly disappointed with all the blatent ripoffs of their hard work to make cool & unique special effects for the first film, but a bunch of "me-too" bastards came along and made the effects seem simple and commonplace, significantly undermining their hard work in the public eye.
So to conquer this, supposedly, the new effects are supposed to be so incredibly complex & expensive that nobody could possibly rip them off and they'll finally get their props.
I sincerely hope this is the case. I must say that some of the effects I've seen in the trailer looked like a bunch of crappy CG. I'm looking forward to the live-action shots with the complex camera rigs and slow-motion editing, etc. Those are the money shots!
who cares about the effects a movie is an expereience and the MATRIX RELOADED was the best experience I have ever had at the movies... wayyyyyyy better than the original!!!
i thought the cg was awesome, although i really hate wirework unless absolutely necessary, it was OK in the matrix. It makes more sense than it does in some of the corny chinese flicks. I'm all for realism. Some of the flips could've been executed better.
There were very few scenes where the CGI was rather poorly done, most notably the one where NEO fights all of the Agent Smiths. If the entire scene was done at a fast pace, they could have gotten away with everything, but their abundant use of slow motion was very revealing of the flaws.
The best CGI I have ever seen was on Gollum in The Two Towers. Nothing comes close, IMO.
Yup, Two Towers was by far the best, followed closley by Yoda fighting Count Dooku in AOTC. Neo looked like a cartoon fighting all the Agent Smiths. Reminded me too much of Spiderman. Hated it! Take out the Zion orgy scene, Neo fighting the Smiths, and the way Neo saved Trinity at the end, you have an awsome movie.

man, they were the PIONEERS of bullet time. After the original matrix, although people ripped off their work, the WBros kinda spawned new SFX techniques that blew everybody's minds away! Jumping across builds that are half a kilometer appart, bullet dodging, Trinity and her crazy flying leg move, and my fav: Neo dodging buillets!! Although Reloaded was a kick ass movie, I missed those live-action shots =(
you guys have no clue what you are talking about. the cgwas great!!! **** all of the crying baby ******** and just realize that the matrix is the best trilodgy ever made and will remain like that forever and stop paying attention to the stupid little **** that doesent matter. LOVE THE MOVIES FOR WHAT THE REPRESENT!
In matrix relaoded, the bulry brawl fight scene was amazing the first time i saw it, now that i have it on dvd, i see more flaws each time, but i try to ignore them and just let andy and larri tell us a story, and even if the cg was bad in some parts, the martial arts corriagraphy made me pee my pants it was so good
wtf is CG???
and the original matrix was always gonna be the best of em all, without a doubt. the special effects are great in all of them but reloaded and revolutions suck compare to the original.
It doesnt matter if a movie like The Matrix has some flaws ,not even The Bible has escaped from them. But this movie has spawned a new race of technological expertise and the cool SFX which no other movie has brought forth until now.And the fight choreography composed was so pre calculated that the movements sometimes look as if they are possible with a bit of practise and concentration(not for all,at the least).
I consider ourselves.the die hard fans of The Matrix as too lucky so as to watch the movie in our time because I think that our children and the coming generations will be looking at the world of movies thru the yees of the computer generated algorithms which in the some way r the other will look like the characters in The Final Fantasy:Spirits Within. What do u say Guys?
The burly brawl does have some apparent flaws (i've picked out at least five guys that didn't have the "Smith mask" on that were shown for a couple of seconds, which is long in an action scene) but that scene is so friggin complicated as a piece of action that I can't help but be awed. If anyone thinks it sucked, please, enlighten me to what you would've have changed and how you would have changed it. Anyone who has ever shot an action scene knows what a slow and complicated process it is. This movie cost so much the way it is. If they took more time they would've spent more money, and what if Reloaded flopped? Some of the stuff people complain about just don't seem like logical criticisms.
Kevin: Remember that one time when I ate those napkins?
Me: (laughing) Yeah.
Kevin: That was funny. Do you remember what made me do it?
Me: I'm pretty sure you just said, "Hey, watch me eat these napkins".
Kevin: (laughing) Yeah, that sounds about right.
