Survivor episode 12 airs cinco de mayo post #1  quote:

The aftermath of an emotional Tribal Council and stormy weather combine for a night the tribe will never forget.

To their surprise and delight, some Survivors are overwhelmed by a visit from their loved ones.

A strong alliance leaves one castaway on the outside looking in, with Immunity the only chance for survival.

Paranoia sets in as alliances crumble and some Survivors feel like they've lost control of the game.

It was a gut wrencher.

Those boys sure did some fancy footwork to pull that off. They was so dead, and they kept their mouths shut till the last minute, had Caryn act right and the plan worked.

The look on Blondie's face was priceless!!!

Wasnt it though!!!

I actually even laughed looking at Coby's face...he was also shocked by it!

All I can say is that Katie would have been stupid to have voted with Jen and Greg...if she thinks she would lose to Ian thats one thing...but she wouldnt even have a chance being in a group of three with Jen and Greg...she would have been kicked off and Jen and Greg would have been left for the prize...just like Amber and Rob...

She made a smart move keeping her alliance with Tom and Ian...

Though I wonder what she was going off on Ian about on the previews...hmmm..

I just hope she and Caryn dont go siding with Jen...

Maybe they should ask her permission too! I cant believe Greg did that...what a putz!

I'm soooo glad another romance in the air was broken up. In real life, it probably won't be much of a thing between them. Tom, Ian and Caryn were smart. So was Katie. I sure didn't want another Rob & Amber - and I sure hope they lose on The Amazing Race. What - don't they think they should have to do ANYTHING to make a living except win game shows? What free loaders.

I was just thinking of something...

When I saw the previews for next week...Katie is yelling at Ian about lying to her.

Does anyone suppose she thinks he lied about the rocks (as far as having to picks rocks to break the tie?)

I remember when Tom and Ian were talking they said the two tied people remain safe and everyone else picks the rocks and the person with the purple colored rock (or something like that), was the one that gets kicked off.

NOW..I dont remember them using that method this season. Whenever there was a tie the rest of the members would vote for either one to break the tie...not pick rocks.

I think Tom and Ian believed it to be true..but I wonder if Katie finds out and doesnt believe them and then makes it harder on Ian than Tom.

Did anyone else find the rock picking story to be odd? Did they do this method on another season? I dont remember it last season.

It sounds familiar, but maybe it was just mentioned by players earlier in this Survivor.

I really wonder what Katie was going off on, but whatever it was had Ian pretty upset. He said something about stepping out. I really hope he doesn't mean stepping out of the game like Janu. Katie has too much power over Ian because he gave his word to look out for her. Your word is important to keep, but it's hurting him in the game. I want Jenn to go, but Katie is dangerous.

I think in the past they have used the rock method when they have done some revoting at tribal council and there is still a tie. But that is not how Tom and Ian discussed it.

I think that if people stick to who they voted for in a revote, then it goes to the rocks.

Either way, I hope Katie goes. I don't like her. I was VERY happy to see Gregg go.
Here is to Tom and Ian for having the guts to put it to the rock vote. I hope either Tom or Ian wins it.

I loved the look on Cobys face when they pulled the shocker and booted Gregg. I hope blondie goes soon. They only thing she did around camp was Gregg. That dead weight needs to go.

Now that you mention this aspect of it...I think that does sound vaguely familiar.

There was a tie already this season in Ulong, and upon a RE-VOTE, the girl with the piercings and tattoos, whose boobs kept slipping out of her bra, was voted off. If the vote had been deadlocked a SECOND time, I think they would've pulled out the rocks and had everyone pick one.

KOROR MUTINY: GREGG CAST ADRIFT
Stunned at Tribal Council, Gregg Carey, the 28-year-old business consultant from Chicago, Illinois, realized he was the victim of a broken alliance and that his days on Koror were at an end. In what they viewed as a defensive move, key members of Gregg's core alliance turned the tables and recruited the pact's next target. Blindsided and thunderstruck, Gregg could only say "My hat's off to them. They got me. They got me good!"

FIVE FOR LIFE
As day thirty-one dawned, Tom Westman, the 41-year-old NYC firefighter from Sayville, New York, was relieved to remain a member of Koror, as his strength has clearly made him a target. As Tom stole away with Caryn Groedel, the 46-year-old civil rights attorney from Solon, Ohio, he explained that he needed to stay loyal to his five-person alliance and that she would have to win Immunity if she intended to stay in the game. "I am definitely the most vulnerable of the six remaining, no question about it," Caryn confessed.

REWARD CHALLENGE: FIRST QUENCHER Q&A
As the tribe convened for the Reward Challenge, host Jeff Probst explained that this would be a Q&A game. Each player would be assigned a fire wok suspended over the water. Each time a Survivor correctly answers a question about Palauan culture/history, they may lower an opponent's wok. The last person with their flame still burning would win. The Survivors were elated when an incredible sea vessel sailed into view: the Reward was to be a night spent on this luxury yacht, complete with a hot shower, delectable feast and rejuvenating massage for the winner and two friends.

A Koror pecking order was established immediately as the castaways conspired to oust Caryn from the competition first. After Tom correctly answered a question about Palauan currency, he gave his friend Ian Rosenberger, the 23-year-old dolphin trainer from Key Largo, Florida, a hit. Ian returned the favor by sending Tom out of the Challenge.

After Ian and Katie Mullen, the 25-year-old graduate student from Huber Heights, Ohio, were eliminated, the competition came down to lovebirds Gregg and Jennifer Lyon, the 32-year-old nanny from Encino, California. When Gregg correctly answered a question about the Palauan coconut crab, he sent his sweetheart Jennifer out of the game, securing the Reward for himself. Gregg chose Katie and Jennifer to join him on the yacht, promising to pay back the other members of Koror. Tom sent him off with an ominous reply: "Oh no, we'll pay you back."

TURN IN THE TIDE
As Ian, Tom and Caryn returned to camp, Ian expressed concerns about how the Challenge had unfolded. Sensing Katie's loyalty to Gregg, Ian proposed a shift in the long-standing five-person alliance. Being a clear target of this alliance, Caryn welcomed Ian's mutinous plan with open arms. As she put it, "Those five had an alliance, and luckily, that alliance is breaking down now."

LOVE BOAT
After boarding the opulent yacht, Gregg, Katie and Jennifer each enjoyed a refreshing shower, then lay down for an invigorating massage. During his massage, Gregg was stunned to realize that his best friend was the masseur. It was a surprise visit from a loved one. The surprises kept coming as the castaways sat down for a feast: they were greeted by Katie's brother-in-law and Jennifer's sister. "I couldn't have asked for a better Reward. It was the most phenomenal experience of my life," gushed Katie.

SWIMMING WITH THE DOLPHINS
As the Reward winners and their loved ones sailed an open bay, they were elated to see dolphins swimming about. In a once-in-a-lifetime experience, the three frolicked with the sea's most intelligent and lovable mammals. "It's the most surreal experience I've ever had. I never wanted it to end. It was unbelievable," Jennifer smiled.

IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: SECOND CHANCE
As the Tribe assembled for the Immunity Challenge, Jeff Probst explained they would compete through a series of obstacles they have already seen in previous Challenges: navigating a net maze, solving sea star puzzles, eating balutes, unleashing lock-boxes, target shooting. One player would be eliminated at each round, and the last castaway standing wins Immunity.

Caryn struggled through the net maze and found herself eliminated first. The five remaining worked the sea star puzzle diligently, but Tom and Ian completed it first, leaving Gregg, Katie and Jennifer to fight it out on the losing end. All the castaways found the balute eggs difficult to swallow, especially Gregg, who couldn't down them quickly enough and was ousted. The three remaining scurried to untie their lock-boxes. Tom and Ian made quick work of the knots, then raised their flags in order to send Jennifer out of the Challenge. Finally, it was Tom vs. Ian in a battle of marksmanship. It was no contest: Ian hit all three targets in rapid succession to retain the Immunity Necklace and guarantee himself three more days in Palau.

CARYN'S PRIZEWORTHY PERFORMANCE
Returning to camp from the Immunity Challenge, Caryn did a good job acting depressed about going home. Feeling safe, Gregg didn't notice any signs of mutiny within his alliance. Promising he'd have her back, Ian took Katie aside and explained the new plan, much to her shock and chagrin. As Katie explained, "I'm going to have to make a decision so I can have a better chance of winning."

In the end, Katie's decision was to avoid a tie by sending Gregg home in a four-to-two decision. Gregg became the thirteenth castaway voted out of SURVIVOR: PALAU and will serve on the Jury that ultimately decides who wins the $1 million and the title of Sole Survivor.
