Scientists Create Mythological Creature post #1  quote:

The sheep in this video have become half human due to scientists injecting human stem cells into the embryos of expectant adult sheep.

These sheep have developing human brain cells and organs. In your opinion, is this ethical or unethical stem cell research and experimentation?

Should these sheep be considered animals or human or both?

The subject of stem cell research is a continuing debate.

If the results improve human life, then all will be fine.

If the opposite occurs..bad things are in the offing.

In my opinion, gene therapy will become one of the most important factors in correcting human deviations and lifelong suffering.

I am an advocate of any changes that will affect future lives in an improvement over what now exists.

This might even convince the masses that consuming the flesh of animals is not good for humanity.

Thanks for your opinion, Becker.

I agree that the human race is in desperate need of medical advancements for people with genetic defects and others living with disease, but the whole idea of gene therapy kind of scares me. Adolf Hitler supported and encouraged Josef Mengele's early eugenics as a method of "gene therapy" to create a master race. I mention this simply because I wonder what experiments are currently being conducted, but has not, as of yet, been brought to the public's attention?

These sheep are half human. Is this more ethical because human stem cells were injected into animals? What if it was reversed and the stem cells of animals were injected into humans: Would that be considered unethical?

Call me crazy, but since these sheep are alive and half human, shouldn't they be entitled to partial human/constitutional rights?

If it's "part" human and part animal, I think it's...just plain wrong.

Would you eat it? I wouldn't.

Would it be cannibalism to eat a human/sheep?

I think so. Maybe. I dunno.

But I aint gonna eat it.

And I feel sorry for whatever part of it is human.

I expect someday to turn on the t.v. and see a talking horse. Someone will go ahead and do the DNA and put a fully formed human brain in a horse or pig, or dog.

It's not that far fetched.

First thing that went through my head when I read this earlier today was:
Mengele. Freaky biological experimentation. Too disgusting to discuss.

You can now pay $44,000 to have your pet cloned.
After this nonsense, for a few thousand more you can have your very own designer animal.
It's very strange....we go about destroying nature in all its forms and then, somehow, we think we are so great we can create nature however we want.
How about taking care of what we have? Is that so very much to ask?

This world is sick sick sick.

I was editing the above post when my cat jumped off my desk, knocked off some CD's, and they fell and shut off my surge suppressor to my pc.
I think I may build my own designer animal....a cat that will leave me alone for 20 seconds....

Moving on.
Regarding gene therapy.
A couple of years ago, I considered going back to University to get a degree in biochemistry, just for that reason...to further the cause of gene therapy as an end all be all for disease and deformity.

And the more I looked into it, researched, blah blah blah...
I found out how exactly inhumane it would be in the experiemental phases...what if you insert DNA that cures the problem, yet causes even more problems in the long run? It could get v e r y inhumane. The body needs harmony, and once one thing is out of whack there are many compensations that go on that cause even more complications. That's why drugs have so many side effects....
Gene therapy will be even worse...

Sadly, you may be right. It's not that far-fetched. I think gene therapy may be responsible for the impending end of the human race as we know it.

I agree, sowhatsthetruth. I think people need to take a closer look at the environmental issues that may be causing defects and disease. You would think that trying to curb our own destructive behaviour and attitudes would be a much simpler task than having to rely on science to manipulate and change the structure of what makes us human.

I guess people think there is no need to bother changing and possibly reversing what causes disease when a few scientists, a lab and a petri dish can help us adapt to the toxic world that we continue to create.

Stem Cell Research is such a dang closed type of Research we don't really know what the hell is going on.

Now a Sheep injected with Human DNA. Thats just great A poor Sheep who has done nothing to anything but live and supply wool and food to the world gets a dose of Human.

Now thats a real disaster. Whomever came up with this should be injected with Sheep DNA, BAH BAH.

It would be alright if they were developing a cure for cancer using stem cell research, but why the hell would you want to inject a sheep with these cells, what did they think it would do, stand up on its hide legs and start talking and smoking a pipe or something?
