Israel post #1  quote:

I'd like to know what people here think about the situation in Israel.
What do you think the solution to the whole thing might be? Do you think there is a solution at all?

People all around the world are criticising Israel and its government, Israel's behavior towards Arabs etc.
Does the world really realise what's going on in there? Many people are being prejudiced by the media against Israel and against Sharon.

post #3  quote:

I try not to be Pro-Israel or Pro-Palestine, but as Pro-Peace.

Many people will argue over the name of that region, and whether it is called Isreal or Palestine, so I now refer to it as That-Land-Along-The-Southeast-Mediterranean.

However, most of the time I end up being more pro-Israel. If you look at the history of the conflict there, there is certainly some elitist attitude from the Jews. But there has been nothing but hatred for them since they first started arriving there during Europe's World Wars. The wars, the occupations, are all just Israel trying to survive.

Since Arafat died, Abbas may bring hope for peace in that region.

But I doubt it.

If Israel hands West Bank/Gaza over, and a soveriegn nation of Palestine forms, everyone knows the radical Muslim militants are going to resume attacks on Israel. It will only be a matter of time before a lunatic takes charge in Palestine and attacks.

I am convinced that the ONLY hope for peace is a single-state solution, where Jews and Muslims have a Nationalism that binds them together as countrymen, not as enemies.

I cannot see this happening.

Therefor, I see no hope for peace.

I'm glad I don't live there.

for some odd reason, while the word "Ganya" was still just a thought-dropping in my head, I thought it'd only be four letters. But apparently it's five. yep.

I agree that there is no solution in the horizon.

However, i think it is important that people understand that Israel is not such a violent place as showed in the news many times. I don't think that it's such a terrible place despite everything that's been going on in there.

It's just that what we see in the news is mostly the Israeli response to terrorist attacks. They show the tanks, the soldiers and many times they forget to mention why they show it in the first place.

What really gets me about all this, is that the world pushes Israel to negotiate with terrorists. The palastinians have no other goal but to drive the Israelies out. They don't want peace and they never did - every time Israel proposed some way to co-exist they declined it. It's never enough to them and nobody (or at least it seems that way) seems to realise it.

1 of our biggest mistakes was to agree and admit, was that thereof any state of Israel. The only country in which does not acknowledge a state of Israel is Iran. So thumbs down to Pro-Israel!!! Always was, is and and will be PALESTINE!!

once again... that silly argument

what's in a name?

let's refer to it as That-Land-On-The-South-East-Mediterranean.

reserve the terms Israel/Palestine for the governments.

It rightfully belongs to the Palestinian Arabs, if u do some research u will find that that is a FACT. So, therefore it's not just land that sits in the southern mid-east. The "Jews" had their chance at 1 point but due to the fact that they didn't abide by rules and so forth, they were lost in the desert for 40 YEARS!!!

Bottom line is that "Israel " exists solely due to the fact that it was STOlEN from the Palestinian people.

I will be back tomorrow....gotta get to work. I'll throw some dates and FACTS @ ya tomorrow

saying that The-Land-Along-The-Southeast-Mediterranean belongs exclusively to either Jews or Arabs is like saying America belongs exclusively to Whites or Blacks.

It's garbage.

I have a problem with Israel's creation, in that it was created by the UN meddling in an unrepresented people's affairs. Western meddling is the cause of so much strife in the Middle East right now.

However... the past is the past. Israel is here to stay.

Jews and Arabs get along in America just fine, so how come they can't get along in The-Land-Along-The-Southeast-Mediterranean?

Najwapali, you say that the "Jews"had their chance and blew it and you're talking about thousands of years ago. However, those palestinian Arabs you mention have nothing to do with it. They didn't exist yet at that time. The palestinian Arabs you're talking about actually came from Jordan. And if YOU do some research you'll see that at the time when Israel was established there were more or less 200000 Jews, 100000 Beduins and less than 100000 Arabs.

Besides, you also say that Israel was stolen from the Palestinians? Well... Jews started to imigrate to Israel/Palestine shortly after the end of WW1. They never tried to occupy anything, never started any wars and did everything they could to co-exist. Nobody said that the Jews couldn't imigrate, and their population kept growing. Eventually they thought it would be best to establish a country, and they made an offer to the Arabs to "cut it in half" so that both the Jews and the Arabs could live together. However the Arabs did not eccept it, and started a war. Throughout the years, there have been many offers from the Israeli part to give the Arabs lands, but they never wanted to co-exist and always declined the offers. So you see, i don't think Israel can't be entirely blamed for lack of trying to make peace.

And one more thing, about the Jews beeing lost in the desert for 40 years... They didn't loose the country by staying in the desert, for they didn't even get there yet. They made a few mistakes and were punished by getting to their land a few years later. Maybe you mean the 2000 years of exile? But even then it wasn't their fault for loosing their place because... Well, the land was occupied by their enemies and the Jews were thrown out of there...

P.S
I say Israel al the time 'cause it's shorter and easier to write, Dekka00

ISRAEL is back to stay!

Terrorists may lay claim to something that does not belong to them...and chip away at her boundaries....but the fact remains....

ISRAEL is FOREVER.
