EMINEM fans get an insight into the real Marshall Mathers from the video for his new song, as it features his home movie collection. The video for Mockingbird contains intimate clips of the rapper's family in one of the most personal views ever by a music star.
He collected hours of footage, shot both by himself and relatives, and approached director Quig about making it fit in with a song about the time he missed as his child grew up.
Quig said: 'He came to me with the idea, and we talked about how he imagined it in his head. He wanted the images to match exactly what his words were speaking.'
Most of the clips focus on Eminem's daughter Hailie, who appears in several shots with her mother Kim Mathers, and his niece, Laney.
Quig believes the rapper could have a future in directing. He said: 'Marshall is huge in the visual department. The amount of detail he sees and how things go from one scene to the next, he could be a director on a regular basis.'
I am not a big fan of the song, but the video is interesting to see.
Although ... I am not really sure about him exploiting his kids for the sake of his career. We all know about his life and the trouble he has with Kim and Hailie, and I know a lot of rappers sing (rap?) about their lives, but I can't help feel a bit wierd about this.
It seems like he's showing these things on purpose, as a calculated ploy to make people think he's revealing more than he actually is.
