The original trilogy was so wonderful... it's my absolute favorite movies, of all time. When they came out with the remade versions, I loved 'em. What did you all think about them? Did you like the cut scenes? The special effects, etc??

I personally liked the remakes he did. Granted some of the CGI stuff seemed a bit superfluous, but then again, it made a great exhibition for just what you can do with CGI animation. I think it was a good idea to release a cleened up version of them for VHS anyway. As for the new DVD releases, I have yet to watch Return of the Jedi, but from what i've seen of the other 2, he's made some nice additions. I thought it was pretty cool how he alted Boba Fett's voice for the DVD to match that of Jango's in Attack of the Clones, given that Boba is Jango's clone.
Love is a very powerful force, especially when its formed into a coherent beam of death.
Special Editions, they were called.... but I guess remake is acceptable
I don't have any real beef with the Special Editions at all, except I'd just love to see the original cuts of the movies on DVD as well... but, well, what can you do?
I did get a laugh out of Jabba's scene in A New Hope the first time I saw it. Han stepping on his tail is some funny stuff I know they had to do it, but regardless, it's funny.
I don't know what I think of the new DVD versions, with the new actor that plays Anakin in place of the old one at the end of Return of the Jedi... I'm not really against it at all, and it really makes a fair bit of sense... I just find it weird.

i love having them on dvd and am happy with all the changes. my only concern is with all the new planets we'll see in episode III. specifically chewbacca's planet of kashyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyk. in the dvd additions, we now have naboo and coruscant in the final celebration scenes of all the planets. so in a few years will lucas re-re-release them and add a few more planets to the end to try and sucker us into buying yet another edition?
Probably. I heard Lucas is doing the trilogy in 3D now. He still hasn't released a lot of the deleted footage. Like Biggs at the start of Ep. IV talking to Luke.
Shadow Stalker said this in post #6 : What? I must have missed that. What scene is that in?
Sorry for taking so long Shadow.
It's in the scene where 3PO and R2 are hiding in the control center, and the storm troopers are trying to get into the center. When the door finally opens, three strom troopers storm in and the one on the right whacks his head. There'd a kind of CLONK noise too. It's hilarious

gaboman said this in post #5 : Yeah... like the storm trooper whacking his head on the door. Stupid, but funny.
i missed that. thanks.
i guess that's why jango hits his head in ep. II when he's getting onto slave I on kamino after his fight with obi-wan. lucas just won't be happy until he's absolutely sure that we know these two trilogies are related.

Yeah, Lucas did that deliberately.

I have watched most of Jedi and part of a new hope,
little things I noticed and was happy with:
1. they souped up the graphics in the cockpit of the x wings, before it looked like a cheap Atari console in there, the computer graphics, now they cleaned it up a little, made it look like it at least had a 4mb graphics card installed.
2. Palpy's face in Jedi has extra added wrinkles and stuff. In the original, there was some mystery black stuff moving around the left side of his cloak hood (from the viewers point of view), I always thought it was some black light or something they had to edit out,
well that moving black stuff is gone now, I like that.
3. Palpy looks darker now in the face, not so pale white. You can tell the difference when he stands, his hands are still pasty white.
4. The did a supreme uber good job of beefing up the Galactic Cruisers, putting in all kinds of extra detail in them, that the plastics models didn't have.
Plus they added in several ships during the space battle, including the falcon doing a Top Gun flyby of the bridge of the one Galactic Cruiser that had the tie fighter running into it.
5. This was on the extra disc, they were showing old footage of Star Wars, and talking about other stuff and it showed a clip of Vader chopping Obi wan in half.
It was fake as hell, and you could tell it was a rubber dummy, looked terrible, maybe that's why they deleted it and made it so Vaders saber goes though thin air instead.
More later, after I watch them in their entirety, and watch Empire Strikes Back.
I like the Boba voice, it fits the story which is good, so it shows that at least Lucas is thinking of covering his tracks abotu somethings and solving the plot holes that have arrisen from the new prequels.
