Ok I think this is a new spammer trick, at least new to me. I guess in an attempt to get their spam past the spam catchers their new tactic is this.
I use SpamControl by G-Lock which checks all my messages prior to me downloading them. It checks them against Black Lists, HTML Validator, Bayesian filter, DNSBL Filter and other filters not to mention items from address I identify and list them as either good, bad questionable or unknown. It color codes the messages and I can view the subject line, address, headers and contents.
Well I saw the contenct of what looked like a legitimate email, it was a news article about Hariri the guy assanated in Lebanon. No penis stretcher info, no my husband is out of towns, and no save on mortgage not even he look at my porn. So I went ahead let the message come in.
Upon looking at my received emails I didn't see that message. Well SpamCombat hadn't updated yet so it was still listed so I went back to SC and looked at it. Double checked sender and subject. Hey wait the subject says something about credit. That doesn't match what I read in the message.
Checking that subject line with the downloaed emails we find low and behold, SPAM. Here's what they did. The Spam is actually one big image which if you use your mouse and try to click on any part of the message it will take you to their website. Below that image is a big white space. Ahhhh white text on white background and there is the text I read.
Cool thing is, my SpamCombat caught it anyway.
