Born and raised in New York, Caryn Groedel attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C., where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. She went on to George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia, where she attended night school while working full-time as a legal secretary.

Groedel enjoys running, tennis, biking, rollerblading, reading and painting. Her favorite activity of all is spending time with her daughters. She describes herself as ambitious, energetic and adventurous.
Caryn and her husband, Howard, currently reside in Solon, Ohio, with their three daughters, Hannah (15), Isabel (12) and Mia (6). Her birth date is August 13, 1958.
I'm sorry, but I'm starting to really not like this woman. And she is making it so very far into the finals.
She is flying under the radar it seems.
I try to cut these people a break, they are hungry and under a lot of stress, so it brings out the crankiness, but she just seems like a gripe box all the time,
dont ever do nothing and is really sarcastic.
Next to Coby, I will be the most happy to see her go.
She, along with Janu, are the Scout of last season...they dont do much, but they can make it far...and I think its because the stronger ones are more worried about the stronger ones...and they keep in the weak because they will be easy to get rid of in the end.
Of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)

This lady makes me so angry. The girls had a nice plan going and she blew it by yacking to Tom. Tom didn't even know why she would do that. She's not a strategist and she's not a useful member of the tribe. I don't know why Ian trusts her. Plus I don't like how she looks. There's something about her I don't like. Maybe the way she stands. And smiles. It's like a fake, stretched smile. She needs to go home.
"Man is a marvelous curiosity ... he thinks he is the Creator's pet ... he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea." Mark Twain
Pippin's right about Caryn not thinking things through and using strategy. Loyalty only takes you so far, as was made obvious by the original 4 breaking up and Stephanie being voted out. Tom asked Caryn why she'd tell him something like that, because as soon as she told him, he quickly realized that for a numbers game it was the way to go (he'd probably already thought about that scenario long ago...), and didn't understand why Caryn would even bother bringing it to Tom.
Made no sense. The BEST strategy for the women was to gang up and vote off the guys one by one, starting with Tom (he's the strongest player not under immunity...), and probably ending with Greg (giving Jenn some more snuggling time, while burying Ian, the other biggest threat, right after Tom).
Because of what they did, NONE of the girls are gonna win. Caryn's out next, then Katie, then Jenn, then Greg, and the jury votes Tom over Ian for the $ million.
Even if one of the others somehow wiggles their way into the final two, either Tom or Ian will probably make it to the end, and if only one of them does, that one wins the $.
Which isn't the way to play the game. She's supposed to strategize towards HER best chance of winning, and that's taking out all the guys, 2 of which are the strongest out of ALL the survivors brought to the island.
Her best chance was with a female alliance, picking off the men one-at-a-time, because their numbers guaranteed they'd make it to the final 4 (which means more money for any of them that got voted off from that point, because the further you make it in the game, the more money you win...).
Good job by Tom though, to make Caryn think her best bet was with him. Now she realizes how unrealistic that notion was, and she's right to be worried that she's next to be voted off.
