THE cousin of author JK Rowling is to appear on television taking a lie detector test to prove his claims that he was the inspiration for Harry Potter.
Ben Rowling claims when he first read his cousin’s best-selling books, his jaw dropped at the uncanny resemblance between him and the schoolboy wizard.
He says he and the multi-millionaire Edinburgh-based author were "inseparable" when they were children and he used to entertain her with stories from his life at boarding school.
And although JK Rowling has categorically denied his claims, he still insists he must be the inspiration for the character.
The 37-year-old father of one has agreed to take a lie detector test on US television to prove his claims are true. He has signed up to take the test on a new American reality show, Lie Detector, which premieres in the US in March.
The author has slammed her cousin for making the claims.
She told fans on her official website: "Once more I put fingers to keyboard to state wearily that Harry is a completely imaginary character."
Ah....... huh.... I'm sure he truly believes he's the inspiration for Harry
Just as I'm sure a lot of people who met her before she started the books thinks they're inspiration for one or another character.... it's just something that happens to writers, ESPECIALLY when they make it big.
But unless this guy is an orphaned wizard, he can kiss everyone's butt.

I am sure she took some inspiration from her cousin, she probably took some inspiration for all her characters from everyone she ever met in her life. That's how most people write, 50% imagination, 50% real life.
I think he is just trying to get famous. If he can prove he was the inspiration for Harry's character then he can organise a tour of his home town "The Real Harry Potter Tour" (think the Peterman tour in Seinfeld ) or something. He's just trying to cash in and get his 15 minutes.
