Pop superstar BRITNEY SPEARS has slammed reports she's jealous of her sister JAMIE LYNN's rising stardom - because she sees herself as a mother figure.
The TOXIC beauty has stepped away from the limelight to spend more time with her new husband KEVIN FEDERLINE, while 13-year-old Jamie Lynn's showbiz career is taking off, with a starring role in TV series ZOEY 101.
But Spears' mother LYNNE insists, "Since the age difference between Britney and Jamie Lynn is so great, Britney's always taken on a mother figure role to Jamie Lynn.
"There has never been any sibling rivalry between these two, and Britney couldn't be more proud of Jamie Lynn and her success. Britney thinks Jamie Lynn looks beautiful on SEVENTEEN magazine's cover and thought the story inside was very cute and funny."
I see no reason why Britney and Jamie-Lynn should have any rivalry. If I worry about anyone in this kind of situation, it's their mother. She must be running around like an absolute idiot trying to organise two careers.
I think Tina Simpson and Matthew Knowles must have a similar problem. Are they all just super-parents?

She's been surrounded by celebrity just about all of her life, but Jamie Lynn Spears would have you believe she's just another Louisiana teenager blown away by the fact she gets to travel to Los Angeles from time to time to make TV shows, where they sometimes let her keep the clothes she wears on set.
But then Britney Spears' kid sister, still disarmingly polite and kid-like at 13, makes a pretty good case for her innocence when she recounts her reaction to learning she would be starring in her own TV show this year.
''I thought, 'Oh my gosh, that would be so cool!''' she recalls thinking when veteran TV producer Dan Schneider told her one day over lunch that he wanted to take her out of the ensemble cast of the children's variety show ''All That'' and put her in the spotlight.
''So we started talking about stuff and we came up with all of these -- all of these ideas -- and he wrote something,'' says Spears, still sounding fascinated by the process.
The result, ''Zoey 101,'' debuts today at 8 p.m. on the Nickelodeon children's network. The sitcom stars Spears as Zoey Brooks, a student at Pacific Coast Academy, a campus that until her arrival and that of a handful of other girls had been an exclusive all-boys boarding school.
Zoey, not to be intimidated by her swaggering, macho 13-year-old male counterparts, quickly begins to take charge, something Spears herself doubts she would be as eager to do in real life.
''Zoey's kind of like a leader,'' she reflects. ''I guess I could say I lead in some ways, but Zoey is so good at that. I'm a little more shy than Zoey, I'd say.''
The two are alike in some ways, adds Spears, whose Southern accent is far more noticeable in conversation than Zoey's is in front of the camera. Like Zoey, pink is her favorite color, and she loves wearing the same clothes as her character.
''All her clothes, I'm like, 'Can I have 'em?''' she says, laughing.
The youngest Spears has never been far from show business. By the time she was walking, Britney Spears had made her debut on TV's ''The New Mickey Mouse Club.'' She was just 8 when Britney's first album came out in 1999.
As for her shyness, if it's born out of being the youngest of three children, Spears insists she wouldn't have it any other way.
''I was always mom and daddy's little baby,'' she giggles. ''I was spoiled the most.''
After going through what she calls her ''tomboy stage,'' she became interested in acting and began appearing in local plays. Her mother, seeing the interest, helped her land a commercial and a small role in her sister's film ''Crossroads.''
Then Nickelodeon came calling, asking her to audition for ''All That,'' the long-running variety show that, like ''Saturday Night Live,'' changes ensemble casts every few years. Its alumni include Amanda Bynes and Nick Cannon, who went on to star in films and their own TV shows, as well as ''Fat Albert'' star Kenan Thompson, who is also in the current cast of NBC's ''Saturday Night Live.''
Schneider, the executive producer of ''All That,'' says it took only two seasons for Spears to become the show's breakout star.
She had won her spot in the cast when, as a gangly 11-year-old, she did an over-the-top impression of an 84-year-old bodyguard who pitches people out of windows and attacks them with leaf blowers. She had based the character on her great-grandmother.
''Based on her audition, I would have added her to the cast of 'All That' even if she had not been a Spears,'' says Schneider, adding the secret to her success both as an actress and a person seems to rest in the fact she doesn't realize she's beautiful, famous and talented.
''The net result is you have this real girl talking to you, sort of like the girl next door,'' he says.
She would have been 8 or something in it though..... can't have been too old, right?
Glad I don't need to sleep through Zoey 101 too. Though I think Jamie-Lynn is cuter than Britney was at 13-ish (though I don't think she looks better as a blonde).

It's not like there is an abundance of work for people under the age of 15. So of course the people with a famous name are going to get work more easier. There's not enough to go around. If there are kids with real talent and no famous name, then they'll make it, they have to just work that little bit harder.

You go to regular school. Do the kids treat you differently?
No, ma'am. Not at all. I've grown up with these people all my life, so they don't really treat me different. I've taken some of my friends on the set. They get to be extras, so they like it a lot.
What is your best and worst subject?
My best is probably history and my worst is algebra. My teacher is awesome—she's the best teacher in algebra—but I just don't get it.
What else do you do?
Softball. I play outfield.
Not to sound mean, but isn't that where they stick bad players?
That's when you're little and nobody hits it out there. But this is junior varsity.
Are there any celebs you really want to meet?
Chad Michael Murray, but I think I'd get really shy around him. One time I saw Nelly and I didn't even talk. I was, like, "Oh my gosh."
Do you talk to Britney about boys?
I guess so. But I don't have a boyfriend now. I'm not looking.
Have you gone to any school dances?
Yes, I went to homecoming.
Were you homecoming queen?
[Laughs] No, ma'am. Eighth graders can't be homecoming queen. Only the 12th graders. Hey, I have to go perform right now.
Jeannette Walls of MSNBC.com reports Britney Spears wants her little sister Jamie Lynn Spears to dress more like the Olsen twins, Ashley and Mary Kate.
Britney Spears has been helping her little sister Jamie Lynn Spears not only with the theme song for her new Nickelodeon show 'Zoey 101', she also has been giving the 13-year-old hair and makeup tips and has let Jamie Lynn's castmates on the show hang out at her rented Malibu home.
"Britney's fingerprints are all over 'Zoey 101', but her name is not on the credits," a source told In Touch magazine.
Recently, Britney Spears' life has been full of dirty photos, dirty rumors, and dirty bare feet when exiting public restrooms. However, it seems that Spears' younger sister is attempting to live a more clean, or "pure" life, than her celebrity sister.

Jamie Lynn participated in a 'Disciple Now Weekend' at the First Baptist Church in McComb, Mississippi. Disciple Now is church event in which middle and high-school-age youth from the area gather at the residences of local church members for a 48-hour retreat.
An unnamed source stated that the other members of the youth group treated Jamie just like they did everybody else. "You wouldn't have even known she was Britney's little sister... let-alone that she's pretty famous herself."
Who was kind enough to drive Jamie to church you may ask? Why none other than big sis' Britney. Sources within the church say that Britney was kind enough to drop her sister off at the Disciple Now, but did not participate in any of the weekend's events. "She walked past me and I was like, 'Hey that was Britney!' She walked in and out so casually I almost didn't recognize her."
Jamie Spears took her first official leap into the public eye recently when her show 'Zoey 101' debuted on the children's network Nickelodeon. The show is built around Spears' character Zoey who is one of the very first girls to be enrolled at a formerly all-boy boarding school. The show can be seen on Sunday night at 8:00 PM EST.
