Exclamation When the World Dials 911 post #1  quote:

Disaster strikes a world away
We get the call, what do we say?
We move at once, to ease their plight,
To aid them through their darkest night.
But come shrill cries from carping press,
"That’s not enough to fix this mess."
We know that, fools, but give us room,
To counter Mother Nature’s doom.

America gives to those in need,
With no regard to faith or creed.
We’re there for all when need is great
A helping hand to any state,
That’s fallen under Nature’s wrath
And needs a lift back to the path.
So what they may have mocked our ways?
We’ll turn our cheek ‘til better days.

But there are those who hate us so,
They’ll carp and snipe and hit us low,
Who’ll bend disaster to their needs,
And try to choke us on our deeds.
They’ll play their dirty liberal tricks,
For them it’s only politics.
In the face of massive human pain,
They only think of their own gain.

But the world knows sure whom it must call,
When disaster strikes, when nations fall.
America is the beaming light
That fades, dispels, disaster’s night,
And standing firm provides relief
To salve the pain, allay the grief.
So to Hell with what our critics say,
America’s fine, still leads the way.

USA GDP $10.99 Trillion

Australia GDP $571.4 billion

USA Donation $350 million

Australia Donation $780 million

USA per capita GDP $37,800

Australia per capita GDP $29,000

America is pathetic in terms of aid to Tsunami. As is my nation of the UK.

It is true that really, Australia's donation is pathetic too, when you look at the fact that they have stolen 25 billion from East Timor, when both Australia and the US supported Indonesia in its massacre, but at least they are giving a bit more.

Personally, I would say that East Timor's donation of $67,000 is worth more, as they are worth nothing.

Germany has given the most at $1.1 billion which I think is pretty good and matches the size of the country and strength of it's economy.
Joe this whole Tsuanmi thing is not a contest to see who is doing the most and which country is the best if you want to post something meaningful then fine otherwise put the propaganda away for another thread.

I must disagree with the idea that Germany has matched its economy. Germany has a terrible economy. Huge unemplyment has taken its toll, but they still have the generousity to donate large sums. Once again, the US is prepared to donate billions to Iraq, but the Tsunami appeal does not generate large sums of oil, so is not important, (apart from in Australia, whereby the disputed east timor region is worth 25 billion dollars to the Aussies.).

But they are giving from the heart. They know what it is like to not have anything. Ofcourse Germany isn't destroyed like parts of Asia but Germany was once a crap country after WWI & WWII. So they know what its like to not have anything and have to build up from scratch.
