Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie has renewed their wedding vows four years after they got married in a private ceremony.
The couple exchanged vows and wedding rings at their Ashcombe country estate in Wiltshire, a source reported.
"Christmas is a special time for them because they originally tied the knot on December 22 four years ago," the source said.
Ritchie reportedly gave Madonna a ring worth US$190,000 dollars, from Parisian jeweler Fred, while Madonna gave her husband a ring that she had ordered more than six months ago.
That's sweet. I think all couples should renew their vows at some point in time. After four years it might be a bit early, maybe 5 or ten years is good. Has it really only been four years? I thought it was longer
MADONNA's successful marriage to film-maker GUY RITCHIE is down to their devotion to studying the Kabbalah - according to close friend VINNIE JONES.
Jones, who starred in Ritchie's LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS and SNATCH, credits the couple's intense interest in the mystical branch of Judaism as being responsible for the strong four-year marriage.
The former soccer star says, "I think their religion is keeping them together. I think the Kabbalah side of it is helping them."
Admitting she's had some "very big, spectacular tantrums", pop diva Madonna has revealed how she keeps the peace with husband of nearly five years, director Guy Ritchie.
The Material Girl shares a laugh with chat show host Michael Parkinson
"There is a lot of one-upmanship going on, I have to say," the 47-year-old star tells chat show host Michael Parkinson in an interview set to air on Saturday. "You do have to learn to say 'I'm sorry', even when you don't mean it. And I'm telling you, if you say it even when you don't mean it, it really gets you a long way, okay. Just a little secret for everybody."
The Hung Up singer also recalled how Guy used three apparently fool-proof charms to conquer her heart – the first "aphrodisiac" being the film director's hunky physique.
"I saw him with his shirt off playing tennis, and that was a big plus," she recalled. "And then I sat next to him at a lunch, and he was incredibly witty – and that was another big plus. I think a sense of humour is important."
But apparently the Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels filmmaker's skill behind the cameras really sealed the deal. "Finally, I saw his first movie, and I thought, 'God, he's incredibly talented'. So those three things put together were a huge aphrodisiac."
