- sorry if this is already a thread. but i think if a girl has sex and gets pregnant, she shouldnt be allowed to get an abortion. if she was raped, ok, fine, you can. but if she did it of her own will, and knew the conciquences (spell check) then thats her fault, not anyone elses. if she was raped it wasnt of her consent, soo thats my input on it all.

As a man you can have your opinion, but if you to try and force your opinion on a woman when you have no idea how it feels to get pregnant, agonise over a decision, and either terminate or go through with a pregnancy, then that's wrong.
- i know being pregnant sucks. but i mean, if you dont want a kid then dont go off screwing guys without protection. i dont have any gud examples, someone help me here. schmiggens do you honestly think abortions are ok, or do you not?

Yeah, I think they're OK, in moderation. I don't agree with women having them every year, but under the right circumstances, I think it can be neccessary.

That was the shortest political/morals argument I've ever witnessed.
**spaliznad leans back in crappy chair- completely flabbergasted at the thread and the fact that he just said flabbergasted**
Kevin: Remember that one time when I ate those napkins?
Me: (laughing) Yeah.
Kevin: That was funny. Do you remember what made me do it?
Me: I'm pretty sure you just said, "Hey, watch me eat these napkins".
Kevin: (laughing) Yeah, that sounds about right.
People are entitled to their opinions, there's no point smacking your head against a brick wall by trying to get someone to change their opinion. Especially when it comes to hot topics like abortion. You're better off to just live and let live. I can handle Scott having his view and (I think) he can handle me having my opinion.
- i can handle your opinion although i dont believe its the right, lol. i dont see how its right to take the life of an unborn, when you created it yourself. i like to relate examples to current events soo... s.peterson was charged with murder to two people, his unborn son, and wife. how is it that thats considered double murder if the baby wasnt born yet? so if thats the case, then why is it ok to kill an unborn when your getting it done at the hospital? either way no matter the way you choose, your getting rid of the babies life, correct? please, carry on.

The reason that S.Peterson was charged with double murder is because the fetus his wife was carrying was in the third trimester and full term. The fetus was viable and could live outside the womb had he been delivered. It is currently illegal to perform abortions at that stage of pregnancy unless the fetus dies inside the womb of natural causes, (and even in those cases, sometimes doctors will have the mother carry it until she delivers) or when the circumstances of the pregnancy risk the life of the mother (and when that happens in the third trimester they will normally deliver through a c-section before aborting the fetus).
Although it is still legal in many states to perform partial birth abortions; aborting the fetus up into the 5th month of gestation, the fact remains that most women who seek an abortion do so within the first or second month. And contrary to popular anti-abortion belief, it is not done as an alternative to birth control, in fact, many women seeking abortions do so because their method of birth control failed, they are in an abusive relationship or they are nothing more than children themselves. (Sometimes aged as young as 11 years old)
In the case of Lori Hacking who was 8 weeks pregnant when her husband allegedly murdered her in Utah, he will probably not be charges in the deaths of two seperate people, but rather just his wife. Her pregnancy was still just an embryo at that stage and not viable in any way. It was too soon in the pregnancy to determine if she would carry to term or not. The first trimester is critical in a pregnancy...most miscarriages happen in that time. This is why many couples won't announce their happy news until the mother to be enters the second trimester. Because of this it is unlikely that they will charge Lori Hacking's husband with a double murder.
However I believe there have been one or two cases where a person who murdered a pregnant woman who was 5 months along have been charged with a double homicide. If abortion is legal through 5 months of gestation, then by legal standards a person guilty of murdering a pregnant woman who is up to 5 months along, can only be charged with one person's death.
Personally I'm completely against partial birth abortions. If a woman doesn't know that she wants an abortion within the first stage while it is an embryo and not a fetus, then I think it should be too late to make that decision.

- wow thats a long post, but i did read the first few sentences. i wasnt aware that it was illegal to perform an abortion later in stages. i agree with that, that also changes a lot, im glad to know that, thnx chel!
