I play games regularly... I have no problem dragging myself away when I really need to (you know, when I haven't slept for 2 days and need to put a fire out in the kitchen).
I do think games can get addictive, however, for kids in particular, parents need to take responsibility for the amount of games their kids play, and if playing games still interfers with school and their basic social schools, it doesn't hurt to go cold-turkey from Tetris, now, does it?

Last week, I was woken up my my husband cursing and frantically flipping switches in the fuse box. We had lost power and when it came back on, the switch for the computer room and kitchen was apparently broken. He called in late to work and was as frantic as an addict without their drug of choice.
Why? He needs to play his game online...every day.
Yes...he's addicted.
