Here Comes the Recount!!! post #1  quote:

A preponderance of election irregularities have surfaced over the past week prompting 6 Congressmen to petition the GAO for answers. Since election tampering is an offense against Democracy itself, a non-partisan recount should be carried out to prevent the undermining of our fundamental principles.

As important as I thought the election would be, events transpired the same week and turned out to be more important to such a point that this election, politics, etc. just doesn't matter anymore. So recounts or none; impeachment or not, prosperity or not; life, death, terrorism; it just doesn't matter to me as much anymore.

Man, you sound despondent. This is not over. Bush will have his 2nd illegitimate term and then he and his hateful, isolationist supporters will fall out of control for decades. Ironically, we will have Bush to thank for their collapse. The hopeful fact is this: It took the Republicans 30+ years to build their noise machine and it only took progressive thinking people 2+ years to nearly destroy it. Consider that.

I'd only be interested in a recount if there was significant evidence of significant tampering.

Believe me, my perceived despondency has nothing to do with this election. On any other week, I would be all over this, but my absence for the past week has changed me some.

I would too, I think they called Ohio too early anyway. Given the amount of provisional ballots and absentee, they votes could definitely have shifted the state to a recount situation, but I guess they called it early to avoid this because of the long wait to count provisionals, a stupid latent period I think.

Is this why it's still a hot topic?
Because a recount may ensue?
I have already moved on.

Which is interesting considering Ohio's spokesman's assurance (I don't recall if it was the Governor, or Cincinati Mayor or who the heck it was now) that whether it took "2 hours, 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months" that the people could rest confidently that Ohio would ensure an accurate count on their side. Needless to say I was a bit astonished when an anouncement was made for that state only a few hours after that message - surely they couldn't have gotten through all those ballots...

You are a regurgitator. You heard the word mandate from the Hannities and Limbaughs and couldn't resist it. Stop lying to yourself. This was the smallest margin of victory for a sitting President in history. You know it, I know it and everyone who cannot lie to themselves knows it. Say something intelligent or stop wasting your and others' time.

If there was tampering and a fixed election, is there really anything that can be done about it?

Because if they got away with that, then no recount or protest will ever overturn it.

The machine has taken ova.

Ricky Martin? Looks like a Keanu Reeves impersonator reject. Sorry, that's the first thing that popped into my head.

what i'm hearing is that ohio was 'won' by only 136,000 votes and that there was rampant cheating in that state. if ohio is put in the kerry column, he is elected. errors can be corrected, but only before they are certified in december. this, btw, is what the republicans call a 'mandate.'

i'm also hearing that ther are many in the media who believe kerry actually won ohio and (yes, again) florida, but are afraid to touch this matter with a ten foot pole, given the cbs error.

and the gop intimidators RULE!
