Avril Lavigne has become the latest pop star to blast her lip-synching peers, calling them "pathetic."
The Canadian singer was appalled by Ashlee Simpson's performance on last weekend's "Saturday Night Live," when she was caught miming to a backing track when her drummer programmed in the wrong tune.
Speaking to music Web site Billboard.com, Lavigne says, "There are a lot of people out there today, who have become stars or famous musicians.
"I wouldn't really define them as a star with a record only because they have connections and only because they have money and for the wrong reasons. And it sucks.
"Actually, I know for a fact there are some young female artists who don't even sing on their own records and who don't sing live. And that is pathetic."
Yes haha!! Ya know I never considered my self to be a "fan" of Avril Lavigne even though I always supported her and took up for her, but after taking part in so many post disscusions I am really starting to like her. I love how she realizes that all these pop princesses are
Pop star Ashlee Simpson has forgiven Avril Lavigne for nasty comments the Canadian made about her singing ability after her infamous lip-synching on live TV show "Saturday Night Live" -- because she has since apologized.
Simpson reveals she confronted the pop punk at a party and asked her about comments she made suggesting Simpson "didn't deserve" to be on the "SNL" stage if she relied on backing tapes.
Simpson says, "I won't say anything bad about anyone, even if they talk about me.
"I hung out with Avril once and I said to her, 'Hey, I heard that you said some things,' and she was like, 'Sorry,' and that was cool.
Goes to show that she's made it. Avril's a big girl now. She's made it and can do what she wants. I feel connected to her, like she's my big sis or something.
She is da first singer whos music was good and was not "a member in the heard" Or otherwise said, she did not sing the music that was populare at the time. She sung what she liked. She was diffrent.
