R Kelly Storms Off Stage post #1  quote:

R. Kelly abruptly leaves St. Louis stage

R. Kelly abruptly walked off the stage during his segment of the Best of Both Worlds concert tour Saturday with Jay-Z after arguing with a sound engineer.

The tour has been plagued with tales of dissension between the two entertainers, with Saturday night's conflict rumored to have something to do with Kelly being angry at Jay-Z, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Monday.

During Kelly's performance of Happy People, the singer stepped into the crowd and walked to the back of the arena, where his heated argument with a technician at the sound board was captured on the oversized video screens.

When Kelly returned to the stage, he bowed and walked off, although the show wasn't over.

Because of Kelly's premature exit, Fiesta, intended as a joint finale with Kelly and Jay-Z, was not performed.

The show ended with Jay-Z's emotional tribute to fallen musicians, such as 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G. and Aaliyah, who was briefly married to Kelly.

I had no idea. You learn something new everyday.

This tour just seems to be plagued by controversy though. Maybe they should just give it up.

Yeah, she was either 14 or 15, lied about her age (forged birth certificate) and they got married. Soon after it was annulled and they stopped working with one another, and wouldn't discuss it in interviews. I believe someone asked Aaliyah just before her second album was released and the story went it was just time to move on or something.

Hehehe I doubt they'll give up. A few million a pop ain't bad, I reckon. No matter how pissed off you are.

[Chi Sun Times] Is R. Kelly seeking 2nd job -- at McDonald's?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
October 26, 2004
BY ABDON M. PALLASCH AND JIM DEROGATIS Staff Reporters

Could the reason R&B superstar R. Kelly stormed off the stage after Saturday's show in St. Louis be a Big Mac attack?

Or did Kelly just want some familiar comfort after getting upset about what he felt was poor handling of the sound at the concert?

Kelly's attorney Ed Genson confirmed reports Monday that Kelly headed from St. Louis' Savvis Center to a McDonald's restaurant that had closed, but which he persuaded to reopen for the entourage traveling on his bus.

"Then, he decided he wanted to work the drive-through," Genson said. "It was on the radio. People were running out of their houses to have R. Kelly serve them."

Kelly is a big McDonald's fan who has stopped and worked the drive-through windows at McDonald's restaurants before. In a "Primetime Live" interview that aired in October, he talked about frequent visits there with his late mother.

"We'd go to McDonald's almost every morning. She'd drink her cup of coffee, she'd wear this cheap lipstick, and she'd leave this red lipstick ring around the cup," Kelly said.

Meltdown in St. Louis

Saturday night, Kelly reportedly ran off stage and yelled at the sound people about two-thirds of the way through the show, part of a multicity tour with hip-hop giant Jay-Z. The two then canceled Sunday night's concert at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, as well as Tuesday's scheduled show at the Civic Center in Hartford, Conn.

The Chicago Sun-Times has reported Kelly has allegedly used his fame and influence as a pop star to have sexual relationships with underage girls. In June 2002, he was indicted on charges of child pornography after the newspaper received a videotape that prosecutors say shows him having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

How the heck does that Jim Deg...whatsie know R. Kelly's every move? frickin unbelievable. I think it's cool though, R. Kelly hanging out at a McDonalds, trying to make himself feel like one of the smaller people again mustn't be too much fun being a multimillionaire

You know lil liyah, it's one of those things you can't be 100% about. What I mentioned about is how all the rumours go, but I wasn't actually there or anything, so you know, I definitely wouldn't be qualified to say yay or nay.

It's true though, they both have always denied it.

my favorite Aaliyah album is, and always will be, the one she did with R. Kelly

More news: the tour's been cancelled. Apparently R. Kelly was 'kicked' off the tour, but since it's half his tour also, I don't think it's possible. What happened a few nights back is R. Kelly said he saw a couple of people in the crowd waving guns and freaked out. They didn't find those people, but it apparently pissed Jay-Z off and the tour is over.

Jay-Z Bumps R. Kelly From Tour

The New York Daily News reports Jay-Z pulled the plug on 'Best of Both Worlds' tourmate R. Kelly on Saturday night, knocking the crooner off a double bill at Madison Square Garden and taking the stage for a solo show.

"The promoter decided to cancel the tour because Jay-Z refused to perform with R. Kelly," Kelly's spokesman, Allan Mayer, said last night. Kelly said in a statement: "The fans deserve better than this. I'd like the show to go on. It's really disappointing that Jay-Z and the promoter don't."

JAY-Z BLASTS KELLY FOR GUN REMARK

Jay-Z has lashed out at former touring partner R. Kelly for potentially sparking a riot at Madison Square Garden in New York last week.

The rapper is still reeling after Kelly hit him and his entourage with a $75 million lawsuit on Monday, accusing them of trying to sabotage the Best of Both Worlds tour.

The suit was sparked by a heated show in New York on Friday, when Kelly, who had received a telephone threat before the show, stormed offstage after claiming he had seen guns in the audience.

Jay-Z has now come out and accused the R&B star of acting unprofessionally.

Speaking on MTV's "Total Request Live" Wednesday, Jay-Z said, "It could be dangerous because when people start saying they see guns and different things like that, and there's 20,000 people in the building ...

"Imagine if people would have panicked and they start rioting and people got trampled and different things like that. That wouldn't hold well with my conscience, so I couldn't do that no more and that was the end of that for me."

Jay-Z has now renamed the tour Jay-Z and Friends and plans to honor tour commitments in Miami, Florida, Los Angeles and Virginia.

Why would either of them want to sabotage the tour?
