Homer would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for those meddling kids.
The Simpsons have lost their place in the Guinness World Records book as the cartoon comedy series with the most episodes - to Scooby-Doo and his ghostbusting gang.
The fearful hound, together with his friends Velma, Shaggy, Fred and Daphne has featured in a total of 350 episodes since the cartoon first aired in 1969.
Homer and the rest of Springfield's finest have appeared in 335.
Richard Kilgarriff, of British-based
Boomerang TV, which will screen the latest episode, Scooby-Doo Hallowe'en, on Sunday, said: 'It's a great honour to have taken Homer's crown.'
Scooby-Doo's other cartoon rivals are lagging even further behind. Tom and Jerry managed to notch up only 209 episodes, ahead of The Flintstones with 166 and Mickey Mouse with 120.
Scooby-Doo was also named second favourite childhood cartoon in a recent poll of adults, behind Tom and Jerry.
they're not, I believe they were just premature in giving the simpsons the honor in the first place. Also, scooby's episodes can be split into different shows. Like "Scooby Doo Where Are You", "Scooby and Scrappy Doo" and "Scooby Doo Mysteries"...
The funny thing is, the smurfs have 420-odd episodes, and no one's even thinking about those cute little blue guys.

I used to love the Smurfs. I had a Smurfette doll, she was one of my favourites.
Did you have to look that figure for the Smurfs up, or is that a useless piece of imformation you just have stored in your brain?
The Simpsons will eventually overtake Scooby Doo anyway I guess. The cast is contracted for another three years, and then the movie, and maybe more episodes after that.
I knew the smurfs had more than 400 episodes. I just looked it up and saw it was 421. Then said 420-odd episodes to make it look like I kinda had a clue, but not really
Yeah, looks like the Simpsons will keep going, so it's not like Scooby Doo should settle into that "most episodes" title. Especially with the Simpsons apparently being in Prime Time now, that may renew some lost interest in the show.
Ah, new episodes on November 5th. Brilliant
