Greatest Super Hero of all time post #1  quote:

I was just wondering who everyone thought was the greatest super hero to ever live. They shouldn't be police officers or firefighters (although they are great) but more like superman or Spiderman. My personal preference is wolverine.

MIghty Mouse?! I can't say that he was even on my list of possible super heros. Did he even save anyone at all? Who was his main enemies?

It have to be The Batman hands down . he has saved the world time and time again and did it with no decernible super powers, just determnation, intellegence, and compassion.

post #10  quote:

Simply put, there are numerous pretenders { from more recent publications } and a few contenders { with popularity spanning decades } BUT ONLY ONE HERO STANDS ABOVE THEM ALL !!!!

Doc Savage!!!!!!!!

Do you doubt ... read on.

Lester Dent created this charcter in the early 1930's ... before Superman... before comic books.

Doc was the first superman.. known as the Man of Bronze... a superman ... he fought evil doers around th globe.. and sought refuge in his Fortress of Solitude ... sound familiar?

The comics stole liberally from Doc's pulp novel history until his stories were froced to be re-incarnated there as well.

Over the years there have been radio shows and movies... etc etc.

But the popularity of the heroes that came after and pilfered there M.O.'s from him limited this character's ability to gain enough popularity to merit a definitive big budget treatment.

And that is a shame. The first true super hero deserves a shot at coming out from under these decades of copycats!

Yes .. but hardly a big budget a class treatment.

I mean come on, as a Spidey fan you wouldn't have been satisfied if they had never made more than the crappy TV 70's live action movies ... would you?

I agree...the movie was terrible.

But I have read some of the old "Doc Savage" publications, and I agree with your analysis. And I envy him.. He always had a great tan........
