Second debate who won post #1  quote:

Second debate-who won?

Keep it clean folks. ANY flaming, and I will close this down. We need to respectfully disagree and not attack one another. When it comes down to it, we all have to live with whoever wins the election.

Since this appears to be the official second debate thread, I'll repost my reply from another thread...

I didn't write this, but here's someone's commentary on the debate:
quote:
chumbiwumba wrote this on the Kerry Spanked the Monkey: The Morning After the Debate from BillMaher.com Messageboard:

What a difference a night's sleep makes on one's perspective on the debate. I am not particularly fond of Kerry's ponderous speaking style. He has a tendency to pontificate. He uses phrases in a nagging fashion. In a different way, language is not his friend.

Then Bush opened his piehole. Words that ran around the room like a Nascar race or maybe a demolition derby. He emphasized style not substance. Talking redneck is a style of sorts akin to bartender speak at the Crawford saloon and bible study class. He was speaking to the nation's truck drivers, assisstant managers at Joe's Bar-BQ and other mental flatliners that vote as an extension of bodily functions.

Such a brusque style made Kerry an easier listen. When Bush's turn came up to speak, he shot out of the chute like a cowboy hoping to rope the steer and wow the crowd. He took words out like nails and hammered with phrases, sometimes they took and sometimes they got bent and went in crooked.

Kerry slightly won that debate. This is an injury to Bush that may take a few days for the bruises to show. He lost the Canadian prescription argument badly. He lost the environmental question. He didn't refute the accusations that Kerry made about the 1% that got $87 billion in tax cuts. An unseemly image is starting to emerge of Bush. It's not a new image, but the fog is starting to lift or the drugs are wearing off. The rudeness and crudeness as he expressed that some of his decisions may have distanced allies. All the fault lines that are starting to appear with respect to WMD and the number of troops. If there were 300,000 troops in Iraq and the borders were sealed, the weapons dumps siezed, then the current tally of U.S. dead maybe only 300 instead of 1,000+ and growing. This last slam is very serious because it goes to the core of his judgement or lack thereof. Yes, 300,000 troops cost a heck of a lot more than 135,000. But something this important you do right or not at all. In the end we will end up spending every dime of the 300,000 force levels bringing credence to the axiom "pay me now or pay me later."

The chimp is wounded. The spiral has begun.

I think this is a great commentary.

The guy who takes a chance, who walks the line between the known and unknown, who is unafraid of failure, will succeed.

I wonder if they were actually watching the debate at all? A commentary on debating style hardly defines a leader.
Kerry talked just like a lawyer. Slick and aggressve with mostly accustations and assumptions. I spoke of his plan but never spoke of what it is or how to fund it. Other than some taxe credits and TAXING the rischest 1%, which include his wife with 790 million dollars. I guess it's time to see their bank statement.
Now he is going after rich and basically saying, "If I get elected, I'm coming for you". I'm going to shut doewn you tax loopholes and by the way INCREASE YOUR TAXES. "Right into the camera".

I guess if you like slick talking lawyers, Kerry and Edwars are your men.
With the 20 Bush plans he says he will do a better job at, let's hope he does what he says and doesn't screw them up and without raising taxes by the way. "Right into the camera". This I gotta see. That picture will come back to haunt him if he gets elected. I suppose you libs believe this lie too?

right now, given a choice between believing kerry's promise and bush's promises, it's a no brainer. i keep remembering the promise that bush ("no new taxes") sr. made.

must be in the genes.

This is NOT Bush Senior.
This IS the same John Fonda Kerry who should have been sent to prison for meeting with the enemy in Hanoi and Paris.
This is the same John Fonda Kerry who will be called onthe carpet when he signs the 180 form.
Check out Ron's link to the Tax policy proposals for Kerry and Bush.

The sad, pathetic thing is that this guy REALLY believes that. He keeps saying it over and over and over and over and over. He's about as much a Jane Fonda as you are a pacifist, USAnone.
