Bush was inept. He seemed to always be searching for words and kept repeating "it's hard work". While Kerry was quick with his answers and was clearly more articulate.
Just my opinion
Karma, you take care of it and it will take care of you.
I thought Kerry did about as well as he could. He was very smooth and lined out his position. I think Bush could have nailed him on alot more subjects where he stated things he would do that are already being done.
Kerry won, Bush is pulling a Gore 2000, jumping in to ask for a reply. In addition, he was really caught off guard and it showed in his responses. The responses waivered until he got to the last thirty seconds where he would go back to his prepared talking points.
I don't see how anyone can say Bush won this debate, even if you support him because he did not look good up there. From body language, intonation, and demeanor, Kerry just crushed him. However, I still think Tom Daschle's debate with John Thune is a true example of a candidate crushing his opponent.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

I understand your point, but.
Smooth delivery of points you dont agree with does not make you a winner. Smooth delivery of innaccurate facts does not make you a winner (200 Billion spent on Iraq is actually 120 billion), smooth delivery of bad policy does not make you a winner (bilateral vs multilateral talks). If you judge the debate purely on presentation, Id give it to Kerry. If you actually paid attention to what was said, Bush took the debate.
I think Kerry won on the issues as well: when he brought up the deception/poor planning that led to the war, Bush resorted to Kerry's "flip-flopping" and avoided an actual answer.
Kerry won on both style and substance, and I thought he made Bush look like the inept leader that he is. Bush is going to regret not admitting he made a tragic mistake. I had a feeling he'd sneak in some kind of half-baked admission tonight, but he didn't even do that. That sly smirk of his still makes me sick to my stomach!
Worst performance I've ever seen by Bush. Just awful. Bush was incoherent. He looked like a man in search of a thought. It reminded me of those minutes after he was told about the plane flying in the WTC. He didn't have a clue. Bush's most memorable line of the night was It Is Hard Work. It was obvious he isn't up to the task.
Only the mose die hard Bush supporter can find anything to spin from tonights debate.
What have anti-zionists and arab terrorists got in common?

And yet I heard all the right-wing spin doctors claiming Bush won the debate. I guess I know where they get their judgment from. A few minutes ago, I actually listened to the illustrious senator from my own state, John Kyl, proclaiming a solid win for Bush in the debate. I guess he also must think that Seattle will win the American League West Division title. Another idiot! Thank God we have John McCain around to frequently tell things the way they really are.
Oh, you remember John McCain, don't you? The guy that Georgie Porgie destroyed four years agao but flip-flops on now?
i was going to vote for kerry anyway because i felt there was no better choice. after carefully watching and listening to tonight's debate, i am now going to comfortably vote for kerry, definitely the better man.
bush was indecisive, something he accuses kerry of. he fumbled, he muttered, and most of the time did not have what i considered a good counter to kerry's charges. he kept saying the same things over and over.
kerry looked and acted presidential. bush just "acted", like he always does.
As of 9:33 P.M. Arizona time, NBC's poll still shows Kerry won the debate 70% to 30%, with over a half million votes in.
I look for the election result polls to close in this week and Kerry to pull ahead by the time the debates have concluded.
I'm still not convinced there won't be a landslide win for Kerry On November 2, although I'm even more convinced that Karl Rove is working on his next array of dirty tricks, as we speak.
