What I find a bit Ironic, is the starting of an entire section based on 'mother nature', and not a single thread dedicated to how we are affecting the environment. All of the threads here are about how the environement affects us. This is symptomatic of a larger problem, I think, but nevertheless strikes me as a bit disconcerting. Why is it, that even after we know that we are destroying the ozone, even after we see chunks of ice the size of small states break off the polar ice caps, after we know we can no longer drink uncleansed water, or fish off of the piers that our grandfathers could, after we've seen acid rain, nuclear meltdowns, oil spills, litter, species extinction, sea levels rising , etc, etc, etc.....that we are still only concerned with ourselves? Are we that self-centered? Someday, it will not be important whether or not we make it to upper managment, but whether or not we have enough fresh water to drink, or if we can breathe the air, or if we can figure out how to save ourselves from the destruction we have wrought. Maybe that sounds alarmist, or extreme. If it does, I encourage you to do small things in response, to moderate. Dont give up driving, but by a car that gets better gas mileage, etc, etc. Its going to take a combined effort from all of us to make a difference.
WoW dude. If you want a thread/foorum on how people are screwing up the earth, start one or ask a mod about it. BUt dude you don't just pop up in a forum about peanut butter and want to know why noones talking about jelly.
"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, diet coke in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"
Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out. But I can usually shut her up with cookies.
A friend is someone who thinks you're a good egg, even though you're slightly cracked.
Im sorry, but I don't find a forum about mother nature to be peanut butter and environmental concerns jelly. Consider what you seem to be implying. That "Mother Nature" is seperate from the "Environment". Please, explain how, and I will either agree, and take my further posts off to another forum, or disagree, and tell you how. See the first three sentences of my previous post for how I think the two (Enviroment affecting us Vs Us affecting environment) are related.
OK yeah bad example. I was hungry.
But it's a fourm about mother nature right. Well, start a thread on how where all screwing up the environment. There's not one so make one. Don't complain that there isn't one. You are obviously capable of making a thread, you did one. So make one on the environment.
Don't get me wrong I do see the irony in it. I'm not tyong to pick on you or anything, I was just saying. OK yeah the things go together, although acts of nature and us screwing up the wolrd is different. Us screwing up the world causes changes in nature so yeah i see your point, but if you want to see a thread on one, start it, don't start a thread on how theres not a thread on it.
Ok now that was my original staement there. BUt as I have been thinking about it I do think it is an interesting point to bring up. You know were complaing about how screwed nature is when were actually the ones doing it. yeah ok sure I'll give ya some credit.

I guess by starting a thread mentioning the glaring presence of Irony, as I did, I was, in my own way, starting the thread I really wanted to see. Perhaps this seems backhanded to you. I apologize if it does, that was not my intention. It merely struck me as odd, even Ironic (in an unfortunate way). Funny that no one seemed to comment on the issue presented, which is pollution/destruction of the environment and how we avoid talking about it....
Wolf_eyes,
I see completely what you are saying. The reason I said what I did in my original post is because The way the forum is going is talking about Mother Nature as force. Like acts of Mother Nature, tornadoes, volcanes, hurricanes, stuff like that. BUt A thread about nautre and how we are messing it up isn't a bad idea. Though it might be a good idea to start a new thread since I kinda messed this one up. But hey I can atleast try to get it back on track.

Hehe. It's ok. No worries. Whoever wishes to read how the thread started (something I do every time I respond) can still see what I was trying to say. Anyone else is free to comment on the state of the environment, or thier take on how the problem should be adressed.

Your subject has been discussed in the "Biodiversity" Thread. Check it out

So you read how the thread started everytime?
Mind if I ask why, just out of couriosity?
OK yeah the environment, Usa1 was it, mother nature is taking care of it. You say? Want to expand on that thought?

Wolf - many of the concerns you are referring to are addressed in the Science & technology forums. It seems most people here, as most people in the world, don't have much concern for those issues.
I don't really think that it's people arent concerned about this Sean. It's more like how do you get a conversation started on it?
Ok talk about poultion, and smog, and acid rain, the destruction of the rainforest. What's the solution? Don't litter, ride your bike to work, for the love of god ladies lay off the hairspray.
It is a problem, but the real problem is there are no soultions out there that 90% of the people are going to even think about doing. FOr most its not even possible. It's too inconvient. What is it HECK's always saying, We live in a happy meal society. It's sad really truely it is, but what are you gonna do? walk around smaking people in the back of the head tellin them to wake up WERE GOING TO BE THE DESMISE OF THE UNIVERSE?
