I saw it last night/ this morning, womens and mens, on the same night in Athens as the 100m running finals of some sort, so I assume it's part of the "normal" Olympics. The paralympics haven't started yet have they? And it certainly wasn't a demonstration sport or anything, it had qualifying and semi-finals and was for medals and everything.
The trampolining is funny. But I agree there are too many sports these days, is ballroom dancing still in it?

You mean they DID have ballroom dancing? In the olympics?
For goodness sake already!
Wheelchair racing?
Hmmm....if it keeps on like this, soon enough I'll probably qualify for something.
Of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong. (Dennis Miller)

Here we go, a race review form the official Olympic site:

Women's Wheelchair 800m : PETICLERC wins in Olympic record
ATHENS, 22 August - Chantal PETICLERC (CAN) won the women's wheelchair race in a new Olympic record of 1:53.66 ahead of Australian representatives Eliza STANKOVICH (1:53.84) and Louise SAUVAGE (1:53.92).
PETICLERC was the fastest to react to the starter's pistol and went immediately to the lead on the inside lane. STANKOVICH had to go for the outside to stay in contact with the Canadian. The pair kept their positions unchallenged by the rest of the field. The race turned out to be a two way battle for victory.
PETICLERC edged the Australian by 0.22 seconds. SAUVAGE benefitted from her fast finish to complete the podium.
Wheelchair racing. Why? I thought this was able bodied racing? Can you imagine the uproar if an able bodied person wanted to race in the paralympics? They'd go nuts!
I think the fanatics are still trying to get balroom dancing in for Beijing. I thought they had got it in, but I can't find anything about it being included so we can just wait and see.
