Thumbs up Can Anyone doubt that Clay is # 1? post #1  quote:

After watching last nights Judge free show it was so clear that the talent to beat is Clay
Think about it, he is the the one that has raised the bar every single week, Rueben always sounds the same.

Clay came on the auditions as the dork of all dorks, but the sheer magic of his voice pulled him thru to the finalists. He has changed his looks, with the help of the shows Stylists. He is an ordinary young man with extraordinary talent.

I am sick of the no talent Carmen moving along each week. Must be because she has such a teeny bopper fan base and of course all the males under , or over 20 to 30 . Yes Blonde hairand blue eyes with a mouth full of shiny "Crest" teeth does it every time.!

Trenyce always makes me put my fingers in my ears! When did screaming mean talent?

Kimberely L. is a so so singer, been in the bottom three too many times, she will never make it to #1.

Josh is a one tune country singing Marine , the all American Idol dor a lot of peeople especially at this time. The only time I really thought WOW that was great was the Garth Brooks imitation.

I think Clay is the singer who will grow and become another Sinatra, or Robert Goulet. ( yes they are all older and off the radar for most of you) . The quality and masterful technique is there within Clay.
I am sorry but every time I see Kelly Clarkson, she loks like she is dressing up in her Mothers clothes. Guarantee she won't be around for very long. The "Movie" what? Beach Party Bongo, Oh I am sure that will break all records at the boxoffice!! FRom movie
to DVD in 2 months.

Its Clay, All the WAy!

I don't doubt that he is #1!

Download his songs from Kazaa and see that he is so much more than even Sinatra or Goulet. American Idol really doesn't show his true versatility.

Songs:
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me.
Still The One.
I'm Not Suppose To Love You Anymore.
I Know How The River Feels.
Open Arms.
In, Not Of.
Go The Distance.
Love Of My Life.
I Will Be Here.
More To This Life.

I downloaded the songs! OMG, they are great!!!! Yes, Clay is definitely the one to beat---and although I think Ruben and Kim L are good, they don't have the vocals that Clay does.

Clay is the best by far. No one comes close to that voice. I just wrote on another post how sick I am of Simon saying he should be in theater or Broadway. Singers like Steve Perry (Journey) and Dennis DeYoung (Styx) and Freddie Mercury (Queen) also had that dramatic style and were Rock and Roll singers. Pat Benetar was an opera singer before she went Rock and Roll.If you can sing like your on Broadway then you can sing anything and that is by far the best compliment you can get. I feel Simon is trying to ruin Clay's chances. I am sorry but Ruben who is also good does not come close to the vocal quality that Clay brings forth week after week. That kid is a star!!

Oh, CatLadycb, you are so right. And what you said about Simon! For some reason, he has it in for Clay. He likes his performances, but there's always "something" wrong with him, like his facial expressions, for instance. I mean, c'mon! Has Simon looked at Carmen or Josh, who both look like they're constipated when they sing? At least Clay shows genuine emotion, and I love that dramatic sense about him. He's fantastic.

If Clay is just a pretty face and a good singer JO JO then why doesn't he have what it takes? That is what America is looking for as their American Idol. I am not a lonely woman I am 39 and married I just have good taste when it comes to singers hehe.

Well u may disagree, however.. I just think he has a very talented voice. I too am married and not lovestruck. I do think he has a unique look all his own..../// This has nothing to do with looks. He does have the best voice, with the best range. He is different and thats why i like him.

Delta you are 90% correct.

As I posted in another thread I'm new (to this board) but also an "older" (and not "love struck") person and a huge fan of the show.

My opinion, should you choose to accept it, is that in an "idol" they are looking for and are testing the contestants "pipes", stamina/perseverence and potential for diversity ... in other words talent that is developable.

Delta ... Kelly Clarkson is where I docked the 10 %. She really has all of the above; a wonderful voice and she came off in AI1 as an All American everywoman, with a persona that is non-threatening to either gender. ( The beach movie in my opinion is some marketing scheme someone dreamed up. The pendulum always swings back, you know. )

So now we have a pleasingly plump girl, a very big man, and a kinda' dorky guy all talented and not very "threatening".

My gut says Kim Locke is "presenting her case", that is, playing the game and has been from the beginning. Her voice is fine but very vanilla ordinary.

Clay does not impress me as a player, just superb raw talent ... and came in as a wild card underdog. His voice is great and whiskey from a root-beer barrel,
extraordinary .

Reuben is a bit of a player too and a whole lot less humble than he would have you think and his voice is good, but always the same old sandwich.

Also, a recording v. broadway voice makes no sense to me whatsoever as so many of the same qualities are needed in either venue.

So ... I agree and Clay has made great strides and has taken risks with change. He may need a little more polish for the music business ... but I liked him even un-polished.

He is my pick and deserves to win.

To Oldbut a fan, I appreciate your explanation on the 90% .
My reasoning for sounding like I didn't care for Kelly Clarkson has more to do withthe selection of songs and the Oh Gosh is this really happening persona that she projects. Lets face it she has been a "Star" for over a year. By now she should have acquired a little polish don't you think?

Contrast: Tamayra Grey drops thru the cracks for whatever reason, but the Talent people out there pick up on her and then she is filming an outstanding part on a National TV show, Boston Public. Did You happen to see her? My goodness she was sooo good, I couldn't believe her poise, acting and singing abilities.
Counter that withthe promo clips of Kelly, most of ehich she looks . not like the girl next dooe , but the slob next door!
Excuse me for being so judgemental. but I have always thought that the day one becomes a public figure is the day you put your best foot forward.

Life may not be the party I had hoped for.......
But while I'm here I might just as well listen to the music and dance..
