I play the flute. We don't have grades here in the States, but I was a music major in college until I hurt my hand. I was playing all the performance pieces.
I played the clarinet for three years and am now on my third year of bass clarinet. I've played Una (my bass clarinet) in honor bands, district bands, and a special State band that was grueling. The first day was seven hours of playing, the second was ten, and the third was four and the concert At least Una is big enough that I could prop her against my foot and sleep when just a certain section was playing I'm the only bass clarinet in my school, but when I played in the honor bands and at the district band I was first chair. State I in a three-way-tie for second chair.
"Man is a marvelous curiosity ... he thinks he is the Creator's pet ... he even believes the Creator loves him; has a passion for him; sits up nights to admire him; yes and watch over him and keep him out of trouble. He prays to him and thinks He listens. Isn't it a quaint idea." Mark Twain
