Read some history. Russia, starting with it's emerging as Kiev Empire in 9th century, was one of the most offensive states. Numerous attacks on small nations surrounding it and other empires, following suffering from mongol occupation, then czar period russia and it's wars, and the brightest page of russian imperialism - USSR. I'm not going to tell that Russia hasn't obtained some of its territory through wars unlike other modern countries.
I mentioned Poland and Chechnya because those were only countries which held armed resistance.
Russian Orthodox Churh had no special missionary subdivisions. No serios attempts to convert non-Orthodox people with exception of Peter I's politics.
Military orders named after Christian saints had a special version for muslim people when awarded (without images of cross)
non-Russian population kept local governance and courts (with exception of certain crimes)
There were Muslim generals in Russian Army at Tsars while 'a British soldier would rather desert then receive his orders from a Muslim general'.
Several churchs in Kazakhstan were built on money of Muslims:
The St.George's Chutch in Chichik was built on money of local mullah, one of main donators to building of St.Alexey's Cathedral in Samarkand were 'muslim merchants Alambekovs'.
The government paid salary to muslim clerical teachers in Turkestan, muslim clerics kept their property and didn't pay tax from their benefits. HIM Alexander III donated his own money to restore Jami mosque in Tashkent
The link Israeli4Ever posted (pan-Islamic and biased in real)blames Russians only for settling in Muslim territory and economic dependance of Middle Asia from Russia.
Sorry, but a medieval economy of Central-Asian countries couldn't be independent. They still produced their food as for the industries, it's very difficult to build a plant in a area when no skilled workers at all.
That very article mentions many positive things Russia did for central Asia:
