The Village post #1  quote:

The people of a small village in Pennsylvania in 1897 have long been aware of the mysterious creatures that live in the woods surrounding their homes, but only when markings appear on their doors do they begin to suspect that the creatures have dark intentions.

Saw this movie last night. I was just wondering if anyone else here had seen it and what they thought. I was expecting the movie to actually be scary, I was definitely disappointed.

yeah, It definetly was not what I expected, it was more of a love story than a scary film. That said, I still thought it was good, but not nearly as good as his previous works.

I agree with that. I think the previews made it look much better then the actual movie was.

**Possible Spoiler**

Maybe it was just me or perhaps someone could explain to me about whatever was in that box...Specifically the picture. It just thew me off, that's the only think I didn't understand. Or didn't it even matter?

Just the concil members knew. As Ivy's dad said he had been a history teacher before and he had heard tales of creatures being in the forest, so they then created those costumes and made up the monsters to scare their children from venturing off and finding the outside world.

I take it you didn't like it then? This movie wasn't fast paced enough for me...The scariest part in the movie was when she feel in the hole, and that's pretty bad....

I personally liked it alot, but the critics like killed it! it made me mad. and i dont like how they ended it either, i mean they could've like shown Ivy and Lutious'(I have no idea how to spell that name) wedding or something. but i liked the plot alot, I'm not a sary movie person and i liked the romance part. they played it up WAY too much in the previews, like it was gonna be wet your pants scary but it really wasn't. we watched it on our girls day out and we were talking about it all through dinner. and one more thing, Ivy kept saying stuff about Lutious' "color" was it red or what i got lost on 'that part
