I totally agree the crowd I was with was dull as watching the paint dry ,which (somewhat) lessend the movie for me . but I saw the movie later on (at a diffrent location) and the audience was totally into it and then I enjoyed the movie like it should've been enjoyed .
It's obvious that what is so obvious to us is obviously not so obvious to the oblivious.
was good stuff. I didn't like the crowd I watched it with the SECOND time because there were a lot of punks at that theatre, and this high school kid in the back kept making stupid comments to make his slut girlfriend laugh - like when Ant May went apeshit for a second and said, "YES YOUC AN TAKE IT! and don't you dare leave it here". I was impressed by Rosemary Harris' (is that her name?) performance by the way, especially in this one.
Anyway, I let it be when Spiderman stopped the train from falling, then was lifted up in Christlike fashion to the back of the train. the kid in the back said, "haha, what is he JESUS or something??" I wanted to turn around and say, "yes, that's exactly what the director is trying ot tell us; that he's sacrificing himself for the good of the city, whether or not they love him - it's called Christlike Imagery". I thought the writers did a great job by having even the train conductor say, "got any more bright ideas?" when Spiderman was trying to save them, not showing the least bit of appreciation - great stuff. But I let him stay as ignorant as possible. The sad thing was, his little slut girlfriend was laughing at that, as if he had made a witty comment, when in fact he was a moron.
Plus there was this whole family of people speaking a foreign language the entire time, so i felt bad telling them to shut up (don't know why). They got a kick out of Jameson though, which was cool to see. I thought Jameson was a bit overdone, even though it IS a comic book character and he DOES have to go over the top for it to be believable and faithful to the comic. When he screams "I want SpiderMan"..eh..it was a bit too much I thought. These movies are nothing if not corny, but great nonetheless.
doctorl87 said this in post #1 : The crowd i watched it with didn't laugh at any of the good jokes, including;
1. the ''raindrops are falling on my head'' scene.
2. Spidey in the elevator.
3. spidey taking back the pizza.
4. Bruce Campbell as the usher.
I hated my crowd! i was the only one laughing! i guess cause i understand Raimi's sense of humor.
Damn?! I thought you were going to complain about people making noise like eating and rustling, cell phones ringing, coughing, sniffing, breathing loudly, throwing ****, talking or saying dumb remarks, ect!?
You hated your crowd because they didn't laugh?
I think there is a word for people like you... meaning your not happy unless other people feel the same way about things.
My crowd on the other hand laughed at the funny stuff.
The funniest scene in my opinion is the "spidey in the elevator scene" I laughed at that too! It was funny to think about what the other guy was thinking. I know that the actor playing the elevator guy is actually a homosexual, because he is in the series "Queer as folk" not that I watch it... I've just seen it, honest! I've also seen him in "Dude where's my car?" but the first time I saw him it that movie was before I knew that he was gay. He's playing a different character though so you can't look back on his other work and say 'THAT GUY IS GAY!'... well actually you can...
I think they tried to make this film too funny, and lets face it, the reactions were totally unrealistic. If your too dumb to know what I'm talking about then I ain't gonna give examples like a GEEK!

OMG the guy in the elevator with Spidey is Hal Sparks, an actor, comedian, and musician. He plays a homosexual on "Queer As Folk" and was the host of "Talk Soup". Hes straight as a bored, hes had girlfriends before come on people just because he played one doesnt mean he really is one
