I think that Harry and Lupin are both in the same situation now, as Sirius, Lily and James were a significant part of both of their lives. I think Lupin will be a very sympathetic character in the next book, as he's not only suffered the same loss as Harry, but is more obliged to hide his grief.
Who says I can't multi-task? I walked and breathed at the same time at least once today.
Harry looks up to Lupin and Lupin is a good role model. He really is the only real link Harry has to his parents and godfather now. They will bond in the next book, for sure.
I think that they already did bond over the Patronus Charm training. Lupin went in on Harry's Christmas present with Sirius last year too. I think that Harry does not know it yet, but that Lupin will be the real "family" figure in his life. He will look out for Harry, but he is not hot headed and will be a voice of calm for Harry as well.
I think that those two have a bond now... and Harry lights up with Lupin around.
So, I think that he will play a larger roll in his life, at some point.
