I think the POA was the book where we really saw Harry as being a very powerful wizard. How many fully qualified wizards could produce a patronus strong enough to fight off 100 dementors? I say only a few. Harry is destined to be one of the strongest wizards ever.
I definetly agree, also we see in the first two books harry gets a lot of help. I mean in the third book he gets help too, but he was more by himself. Although he was getting help from himself? Ok now I've confused myself. But I think that in the third book Harry did great things with less help from others. So yea I agree with that Sherry. Then again would Jk write about about a weak wizard?
Look at Goblet of Fire. Harry gets help from fake Moody, but he is able to perform and learn difficult magic and compete with older wizards. He faces the deatheaters and uses simple spells and his own bravery to survive. Ah, I really do love Harry. Book 5 he leads the group of scared kids into the Ministry and once again HE is the powerful one. He is the one who Lucius Malfoy can't get.
Yes, Harry did get a lot of help, in all the books. But I think that is what makes him such a powerful wizard. He doesn't try to do it all. He has the power to "trust" and "love". These very well might be his most important qualities.
He himself reminds me a lot of dumbledore. Could this even be why dumbledore loves harry so much? that he sees him as somewhat like his past self? Maybe dumbledore even suspects that once he is gone harry will be so powerful that he will be almost able to take over for him in a sense, or at least that if anything does happen to dumbledore himself that harry will be great enough one day to defeat voldmort. Dumbledore didn't seem to doubt harry when he told him about the prophecy. I think harrys strength also lies in his friends, something voldmort doesnt have. Sure voldmort has power, but he doesnt have the love and trust harry gets from his friends. If harry died his friends would still go on fighting, unlike voldmorts death eaters. And just the fact that he does have friends, almost gives him like multiple talents that he himself doesnt have. We see this in the book ss, or ps where each person contributes to harry finding the sorcerers stone. Harry having friends makes up for any missing talent in a certain area.

Uh, I think you mean Voldemorts deatheaters. May want to edit that.
I also see the similarities in Harry and Dumbledore. There is the power, the bravery, and that same mischevious quality. Perhaps Dumbledore sees Harry as a "child" he never had. I think Dumbledore is the closest to a grandfather Harry will ever get. I also was so moved when Dumbledore told Harry that he loved him.
Harry also does not see himself as all knowing like Tom/Voldie-poo does. If you think you can never make a mistake, then you are in trouble.
Harry starts to get a little wrapped in himself a little in the beginning of book 5. Why wasn't HE made prefect? Well at least HE's good at Quidditch! La da dee, la dee da. HE didn't need private lessons with Snape. But then he had to snap back to reality. His bad attitude, got him into most of his trouble there.
And in book five, he relied less on his friends, and even discouraged them from going with him to the MoM. Fortunately, his friends were loyal enough to go anyway, against his wishes. And it's a good thing. Hermione was right when she accused him of playing the hero. I hope he's learned his lesson.
But don't you think that was normal for him to question to himself why Ron and not him? Harry was better at DADA and did as well in most subjects. That was some realism tossed in there. Dumbledore did not pick him because of the responsibility Harry has to shoulder now. I think he would have been prefect if not for this.
I think Harry's anger had a lot to do with this link to Voldemort. He could feel when Voldemort is angry and let's face it, he is not mr. sunshine.
I think Rowling is trying to put more emphasis on Harry's friends, especially in 3-5. I think the importance of friendship is going to be a theme through the rest of the series.
Harry's friends are his family. One of the big themes is that your family are the people who love you. Look at the ones that love him and the "family" role they fill.
Hagrid=uncle
Dumbledore=grandfather
Sirius=father
Lupin=uncle
Mrs. Weasley=mom
Mr. Weasley=dad
Ron=bro
Hermione=sister
That Harry has found his family in the people who love him. The list was to show the type of "family" role that they fill in his life. The Dursleys are not really his family because they do not love him.
