I've been doing some thinking, and I may have a reason as to why Voldmort has been having so much trouble killing Harry lately.
Let me explain, I was reading through " fantastic magical beasts and where to find them" by Newt Scamander, when I came upon the Lethifold or the living shroud. Upon reading its description, I instantly connected it to the creature I watched today during the Forbbiden Forest unicorn scene, in the Sorcerer's Stone. Then I also remembered reading somewhere in this forum, that there was another creature that could only be repelled by the Patronus Charm. This was that creature. Suddenly everything clicked much more. We know that voldmort was able to posses rats and small animals before he found Quirrell, but they died off easily. Once he found and possesed Quirrell he couldn't just stay on the back of his head, because Harry and Dumbledore surely would have noticed, and we can remember Hermione saying " You're safe as long as Dumbledore's around". This means that Voldmort must have been possessing animals in the forest, while Quirrell was up at school. But seeing as the forest is dangerous, and he had to keep his strength up, it makes sense that he possessed the Lethifold. Because while a rat would not easily be able to attack a unicorn and get its blood. A lethifold, ( cloak like creature that suffocates and then kills/ eats you) could. Once dumbledore was out of the castle, Voldmort was once again able to take over Quirrell.
Now you may be asking where the hell I'm going with all of this and saying to yourself " duh".
What I'd like to point out is the unicorns blood. Whoever drinks it will stay alive even if their an inch from death, but they will have a cursed and hard life. This is why Voldmort wanted the elixer of life and the stone which he never got. Now personally, up until a little bit, I considered the first two books to be more separate than the third fourth and fifth. Because the third fourth and fifth kind of branch into each other much more than the first and second do. But .... what if the reason that Voldmort hasn't been able to kill Harry yet is simply because he drank the unicorns blood and is now cursed? We can all agree that Harry has had loads of luck, but what if his survival isn't due to just luck, but also to Voldmort being cursed?
fantastic theory... I think it may be partly due to Voldemort being cursed, sure! I don't think that's the reason that will come out by the end, but it could contribute to his multiple failures!

Wow. Daemon that is brilliant work. I think you may be on to something here. There have to be repercussions to Voldemort drinking Unicorn blood. He had killed more than one unicorn too. So that may be something that is helping Harry, but I think that Voldemort underestimates Dumbledore and Harry's natural ability.

i think he does too, and also i think he relys on others and what he wants to happen way too much. like with the prophecy, and the sorcers stone, and even the diary.
