People have already said: "Harry is the heir of Gryffindor." Case closed. Without a doubt. This is pretty obvious, and if it wasn't the truth I'd probably be shocked. But we have other things to consider before deciding for sure.
Harry survived against He Who Mustn't Be Named. Could this mean that Harry is the most powerful wizard alive? Quite possibly! In the past there lived 4 powerful wizards; the same 4 wizards that founded the 4 different houses of Hogwarts...
Now, the question I'm putting for right now, is what if Harry were the heir of all 4 of of these houses... his family bloodline running through each of them at some point or another.
Would this make Harry more powerful? More powerful than voldemort? Being the heir of 4 of the most powerful wizards that ever lived?
Interesting theory. I do believe that Harry is the heir of Gryffindor, but I also believe that he is also related to Dumbledore, sot that is where his power originates. I think Harry will be the most powerful wizard of his generation, after Dumbledore dies.
Interesting theory Grant. I believe that Harry is both the heir of Gryffindor and a descendent of Dumbledore. It is from Dumbledore that the power originates.
maybe from dumbledore's side of the family he's a descendant from Gryffindor (if dumbledore is a Gryffindor...) but what about the other sides of the family? Dumbledore didn't just create a kid out of dirt...
Hmm... then again, I guess he could have

Discuss.
Yes.Harry is more powerful than He-Who-Musn't-Be-Named.If I remember correctly in the Mystery something there was a door that couldn't be open.Dumbledore said that beyond that is a power that You-Know-Who doesn't have but Harry does. And Harry could also be the heir of Salazar.
And Dumbledore could have been in Gryffindor...Certanaly not Slytherin because he doen't have the cunning and shrewdness to make a good plan. But he could have been in Ravenclaw because he's smart,or in Hufflepuff because he's very loyal to his friends. And Harry is not related to Dumbledore(i think) because he's not as tall him.
I thought in the beginning of book one, Hermione said that Dumbledore was a Gryffindor. I could be wrong, but that's what I thought. I'm going to go check!
lol heather i looked that up too when i first read the posts, even before i got to yours , dumbledore was in gryffindor,.great minds think alike!
honestly i dont think harry is the heir of slytherin, and he wouldnt need to be. He's got all of the heirs powers because lord voldemort transfered them to harry when he gave him the scar, but i could definetly buy into him being heirs of all the other houses. As for a relation to dumbledore, i think theres points against it and for it.... i am almost positive i remember JKR saying herself that if harry were related to dumbledore, then why would he be with the dursleys? but i dont know .. then again the connection between the two of them is very close and suspicious, however i feel that dumbledore simply loves harry because he reminds him of himself, and is like the son he never had... also because he knows that harry will probably one day defeat voldemort, somone who dumbledore really has been working against even since tom riddle was around at hogwarts i suppose. It's almost like he knows harry will carry out the goal that he himself has worked so hard for.
This is an intersting theory. I have speculated about it in the past (in my mind of course), and I think it just might be true. There are many things we still don't know about Harry's heritage.
