Does it make it O.K.?? post #1  quote:

Let me get this straight....
I can go to the Capitol and burn the flag, But I can't light a cigarette on a beach.
I can get fined if my kids miss too much school,But I get Social services Knocking on my door at midnight if I spank my kid for ditching...
Alcoholics can still get there license back in a few months even tho they have 5 DUIs', and when they hit some one all I here is "something should have been done"
A known child molester can move in next door,(less then 3 blocks) from a grade school...
Is it just me or is this world going to hell in a hand basket?

post #4  quote:

well there's nothing you can do about it. You can't change anybody.

we all want to change the world.

There is one person you can change: yourself.

Since you're part of the world, the only thing you can do to change the world is change yourself.

beyond that, there's nothing you can do it. So you might as well not worry about it.

and for the record: the world isn't going to hell in a handbasket. It's always been that way.

It's Fun In Understanding Oxymorons post #6  quote:

Nothing is for free as you expected. If you want the freedom, you have to let freedom ring, a basic tenet of our Constitution.

Our founding fathers wanted to maximize liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Your freedom ends where one's begin. Some can take a selfish outlook and demand more rights for themselves at the expense of others.

No free person is imprisoned in this country, without breaking the laws. If one doesn't like these laws, despite the freedom, why so many immigrants are flocking to this free country and not many Americans are buying one-way tickets out to Communist countries?

That's why America is called "The Land of the Free." If you break the law, you will get a jury trial of your peers. If you think it's a better life somewhere else...tell me about it. I love this country and will evolve with it. I won't make waves and I don't want to be anywhere else.

We are living in a world with hell bounded people post #9  quote:

I'd have to agree with Duckyone the world is going to hell in a hand basket. Have you all ever heard of a case where a man robbed this lady's house and he fell and cut his leg on a knife and he sued the lady because, of it?? This makes it okay for people to rob people as long as they hurt themselves they can get some money huh?? Sounds kinda crazy! True there's nothing we can do about it but, that's the point in having a message board so that we can talk about things....

Yes, the crook falling through the skylight is a common urban legend.

Indeed, I agree. I started a similar discussion a while back called Americans Bass Ackwards
