Well, he could just be 'nobody'. He could be someone that has witnessed death before, and JKR was just showing that others could see the Therstrals as well.

that's true... on the other hand, perhaps she was opening something up. For example, if she later wanted to introduce this character who had seen death before, we wouldn't come here after reading about this character and say "well, why couldn't he see the threstrals?"
She could say "he did, but it flew right over everyone's head!"
Well, exeryone except Sherry's

Well, Sherry just has too much time on her hands-way too much.
Maybe he's a son of one of the Death Eaters who who killed someone in front of him, or were killed themselves. I'm going to have to go back over that part in GoF in the cemetary and try to find hint of a 'stringy Death Eater".
"You're disturbing...yet intriguing. Like couscous. I'm gonna call you Couscous from now on."
well maybe he wasnt a fifth year, maybe he was a sixth year, or maybe hes new to the school anything could have happened. thats a good point tho if harry didnt notice him, and hes not in another year theres probably something at least something semi special about him... ohhh what if later hes not a true slytherin, remember how we were talking about how somone might change houses? who says its a main character what if somone else goes into gryffindor? what if its him?
I mean obviously, he saw Cedric's death, so that's why he sees the threstrals, but didn't he see his parents' deaths too? He should have been able to see them all along. Unless......maybe he didn't see his parents' deaths. Hmmmmmm?

yea i brought that up in a forum awhile ago, that he probably didnt see his parents die only heard them and it could provide us clues as to what actually happened when it happened
I read somewhere that only the people who have seen a death and felt its full impact and understood what it was like to see a person die could see a thestral.
