We all have poor excuses for doing things we just dislike, like going to the dentist and filing dumb forms each year; a waste of everyone's time. But it's the cost of enjoying the goodness of this country, just like keeping all my teeths in good shape (which reminds me that I have to make dentist appointment again.) I never enjoyed doing mine on turbotax either. You're still okay, I think.
You can do one of two ways or both.
1. You can still use this years new software and just manually compute your gross income from last year to that line. If it gives you a hard time, just go and over-ride it.
2. Perhaps, you can find last year's software at some bargain stores or go on the web or Ebay and find it at a cheaper price. You can catch up filing last years and then use that computed gross income. You can save lots of time by exporting it to this years new software.
If that doesn't work, find someone who can help you locally.
