Welcome to the Lord of The Rings Forum. We have many exciting threads in here, so please enjoy.
Please keep things on topic in the threads. We need to remain on topic so that people looking into the threads do not become confused as to what the topic is. There is an Off Topic thread for your use.
We are going to start weeding through a lot of the threads here in the LotR forum.... and deleting these posts. They have nothing to do with the forum, the topics, etc....
Please, don't make our jobs on here any harder. This is a great forum, and you all have so much good to add in here. But, this off topic posting, over and over, is out of control. We have asked you all to not do this, but you simply will not comply.
There are people who come in to forums, because the topic is of interest to them. But, when they go through the threads, to their surprise, these posts have nothing to do with the topic, and they leave, in disgust.
So, please, we need you to all do you part and post on topic. If you want to go off that topic, you can start a new thread, where it is appropriate.
Thank you,
INReview Staff

I just want to add one thing. You can also use the Private Messaging system to converse with your buddies. You can access it under user CP. So if you have a question, and you do not want to post it in off topic, please use the PM system.
You can access pm'ing anyone right off of their posts. Just click on the little "PM" box on the lower left area to send a private message to any specific user.

a shame that this has to happen. out of curiosity, is this the forum in which off topic stuff is the worst, or is all over INR?
i'm thinking it might be time to put in Sub-threads...just my 2 cents though.
Love is a very powerful force, especially when its formed into a coherent beam of death.
It happens in a lot of places that have heavy traffic. Once one person posts an off topic comment, it just starts the snowball rolling....
I'm not sure that I want mini forums in here at this time. This forum would have to grow a lot more before that happens. And, seeing how we are now at the end of the last movie, I don't see a need for that.
It is a good choice though.... and something that we will keep in mind!!!

Heather, try not to look at this as an 'inconvience' but as a learning lesson for us all.
It's so easy to chit chat, about anything and everything. Trust me... I do it too.
The point that we're really trying to make here, is that when a thread is started by someone, the intentions are to discuss what they have made the thread for.
So, in creating some off topic threads, that allows for chit chat, of anything you want to talk about. And, you all have the capibility of starting threads. So, if something goes off topic, you can make a new thread, about that, and go from there.
Think about it this way.... when you're reading a book that you really like, what would happen if all of a sudden, the book became a completely different story? You wouldn't like it. I know that I wouldn't.... and I'm an avid book reader. You want to read your story, and know where it's going, and how it's going to end. Well, each forum is like a book. Within the "book" you have chapters, or threads! Each thread containing one of those chapters is vital to the book, being complete.
You all do a GREAT job. We love having you in here... love getting to know you... love having fun together. But, together, we should all work to make this LotR forum a great place for ALL who are regulars and visitors. We want our visitors to keep coming here and enjoying this as much as we do.

You are welcome Heather. Kris is right, we do really love this little LOTR family. We just have to keep some order so that it is enjoyable for everyone.
There is a new J.R.R. Tolkien Forum on InReview to discuss the books. You can find a vocabulary thread to look up words and there is a new discussion thread for those of us who are reading the Silmarillion. Pop in and join us.
