"I'm going to crush my competition and I'm going to enjoy doing it." --Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth
Omarosa is a former political appointee in the Clinton and Gore White House. She currently works as a political consultant in Washington, DC. Omarosa had a humble youth, growing up in the projects of Youngstown, Ohio, but she eventually graduated from Central State University. She also earned a Master's degree from Howard University and is now working toward her Ph.D, which should be awarded to her in the spring of 2004. Omarosa's hobby is pageantry and she enjoys working as an image consultant who has successfully trained a Miss USA, Miss Taiwan and Miss Guyana.

Who do you admire most (personally and/or professionally)?
I have great admiration for two very strong and vibrant women. My mother, Theresa Manigault, became a widow when I was seven years old. Although my mother was left with four children to raise alone she was extremely determined to make sure that we were happy and that we had everything that we needed to be successful in life. She was an admirable provider and a powerful motivator. Professionally, I admire businesswomen and entrepreneur Madame C.J. Walker. She was one of the first American women to become a millionaire, and she ran the largest business owned by an African American at the time. She also had great pride, sophistication and flair in spite of the overwhelming odds that she faced.
What cartoon character do you most relate to and why?
The cartoon character that I most relate to is Optimus Prime from the 'The Transformers'. Optimus Prime is the leader of the Transformers and works as a powerful force of goodness, courage and wisdom in the battle against the evil Decepticons. He first tries to find peaceful solutions to conflicts, but when battle lines are drawn, he becomes a fierce warrior capable of overpowering vast enemy forces to achieve his goals. I used to watch this cartoon when I was little with my brothers and sister and we loved it!
Strong woman but her style is way too overbearing.
She came off to me as thinking she is a cut above the others -- is she older ?
Did someone ask her to "counsel" Tammy ? She first acts like she's the momma bird at feeding time and then lost it when the little birdy didn't want her worm
If she doesn't get off that high horse soon, her downfall may be when SHE is selected as the project manager and overlords and stifles her team.
She was absolutely impossible tonight! Hey OBF, I think I remember you posting in the "Racism" thread over in Culture and Society. If it wasn't you, it was outsider perhaps, but this woman is an example of what I mean be racist being used against whites.
What was said was a very popular phrase about calling the kettle black. Omarosa immediately turned that around into a racist remark, and I think the whole world knows it has absolutely nothing to do with black skin. So, is that causing racial conflict by taking an innocent saying and trying to make it look like it had to do with her skin color?
She carried on about her being an African-American. This is what I was referring to in the other forum. We run into this situation all the time.
^^Oh be quiet. Yeah she jumped the gun and it was extremely stupid. But she's one black person.
The second she said that, I was I immediately thought to myself, "Man, somewhere out there a white person is using her as an example for all black people and saying blacks are racist against whites all the time."
So far, you're proving me right. And you don't run into the situation all the time. Stop exaggerating.
Oh I guess you know me then trueinthegame right? If you go look at the thread I referenced, you'll be able to put things in perspective. Yes, I do run into the situation all the time.
I'm not going to explain the situations in here, as I already posted them elsewhere in the forum.
And you're right, there are probably a lot of white people out there saying the same thing.
And you proved me right. You knew when she said that, white people were going to have a problem with it. You know why you knew white people were going to have a problem with it? Because it is a problem, and she verified the problem right on national TV for everyone to get a glimpse of what the rest of us are sick to death of hearing.
"you don't like me because I'm African-American"
Um.... no sweatie, we don't like you because of your attitude, not your skin color
LOL, I did look at the thread you referenced. And I think the way you think is twisted. You simply wanna believe that white people are widely discriminated against. You wanna believe you're oppressed.
It's really hard for this to happen when white people hold most of the power in this country.
It's obvious that minorities get some preference when it comes to colleges. It's stupid to deny that. But jobs on the other hand, are a different story.
You do know that people with white sounding names have a 50% higher chance of being chosen for a job over other people. And who usually has a white sounding name? A white person. Don't believe me? Look for it on cnn.com or yahoo news.
It's also been proven that the justice system is harsher on blacks and latinos as well. They are likely to face harsher punishments for committing the same crime as a white person.
Also, there is a type of affirmative action going on for white males, because white women are outperforming them in academics. It's not official, but it does exist. It was in a report on 60 minutes. I also believe it was reported on Yahoo News.
Look, unfair things do happen to white people. Every once in a while, a more qualified white person is passed up for the sake of diversity. But to grossly blow it out of proportion like you do is disgusting.
Really, you're no better than a minority who cites the fact that their a minority as a reason for every last one of their misfortunes.
I'm not here to debate with you about racism. I answered a post about a comment about the pot calling the kettle black. If you don't have a race problem in your area, congrats, but don't tell me what it's like here unless you have been denied jobs because you are white. So, sinse you aren't sitting in my neck of the woods, you have no battle with me.
In perspective, Omorosa is editted as overbearing and self-centered.
I do think that in Episode 2 her response to the kettle comment was way out there and out of context. I can be cranky when I don't feel well too, but for such a smart woman, she constantly fails at what I'll call political positioning within the team.
What next ? They don't like her because she worked for Democrats ?

The more she alienates herself from hearing what the others have to say, the more likely she'll be to get fired the first chance the women get. If she made it all the way from the ghettos to Washington, and working with the President, then why is she on this show? Why isn't she still in Washington if she's that good?
I bet she does better in a situation where she takes a project from start to finish, and doesn't rely on a team. She's definately not good in a team situation (except for tonight she did ok, but not until she was separated from Ereka)
Kookaburra said this in post #10 : The more she alienates herself from hearing what the others have to say, the more likely she'll be to get fired the first chance the women get.
Yes, they even said it might be worth losing to remove the conflict. That would be foolish, and I don't know if they know how the firing process works. Unless they can show that she contributed directly to the team's loss on a specific task, they'll end up cutting themselves because they are being observed so throwing it to sabotage her won't work.
If she made it all the way from the ghettos to Washington, and working with the President, then why is she on this show? Why isn't she still in Washington if she's that good?
Um. She worked for the Clinton administration
I bet she does better in a situation where she takes a project from start to finish, and doesn't rely on a team. She's definately not good in a team situation (except for tonight she did ok, but not until she was separated from Ereka)
She faced-off with another woman too ... I can't remember her name ... and then she flounced out of the the team meeting. She seems so very hard to get along with and if she keeps up the superiority thing I think she risks failing as the leader. No respect ... just like Sam.

I think the Asian gal should and will be the first woman gone, but olbutafan, all your comments seem to be ripped right from my head, especially this one:
"Did someone ask her to "counsel" Tammy ? She first acts like she's the momma bird at feeding time and then lost it when the little birdy didn't want her worm."
Omaraso is obviously very intelligent, but she suffers from the Genius Complex. A catastrophic lack of humility.
As far as the rest of the women, it wouldn't surprise me at all if in the next competition, they begin offering lapdances.
Omarosa has drives. She didn't get where she is without those qualities. In her journey, she has left a trail of discards. I sensed her will to survive and doesn't place much trust on those that surround her. I've worked with many black middle and top level executives to know how they feel as they mastered the track around the block. There initial message is "Don't screw with my work, and let me be" for those confident career climbers. Often times, the group dynamics will be separated down to racial lines. She has to find her center strength in those around her. The camera captivated the rough journeys and to many may be shocking. Let time be the better guide in epi 3 and 4 to see the real sensitive side of Omarosa. I wouldn't underestimate her ability and life experience - a rare skill most haven't experienced nor will bring to the table to lead a company up against some of those marketplace forces.
But her methods of acheiving her goals are pushing people away from her. In the process of her "don't screw with my work" attitude, she's forgetting she's suppose to be working with a TEAM. Maybe they will merge like Survivor does and they can be individuals then, but if she does get past her trust issues, they'll get rid of her. No one wants to work with a person like her, and it has nothing to do with her color.
She seems impossible to work with unless things are going her way. If they aren't, she's in front of the camera cutting the others down, or yelling, or whining about how tough she has to be, or boasting about her accomplishments.
