Apologies if this topic has already been addressed, but since this forum is relatively new and considering that I've just watched Nemesis on DVD over the weekend, I thought it'd be great to hear some comments on it.
I enjoyed it thoroughly and thought that it had the edge which was lacking in some of the previous Star Trek films. The script was intuitive, involving and sharp - with lines such as 'I wanted to be more than what I am', you can't go wrong. The action was exciting and propulsive, and the acting was marvellous, especially from Tom Hardy as the arch-villain who portrayed one of the more memorable bad guys in film lore. I wonder if anyone noticed Dina Meyer as Commander Donatra. It's such a shame that she's gone downhill since Starship Troopers and Johnny Mnemonic.
With the loss of Data, it's quite clear that we've probably seen the last of the Next Generation crew in their entirety. Janeway's appearance as an Admiral in StarFleet Command was a surprise. Now, how did that happen? It seems that she jumped a few ranks ahead of the great Captain Picard after returning home from the Delta Quadrant. Her appearance has put to rest any hopes of the next film involving Voyager.
Opinions appreciated.

Once again Rebel I am in agreement. I think Nemesis was the second best TNG film (First Contact being the clear cut winner.) It did have an engaging story and very good spacial effects. The Romulans made their trimumphant foray onto the silver screen. My biggest complaints stem from half the cast being background dressing. Data's brother got more screen time. Crusher, Geordi, and Worf were useless. Troi was used a tad more. Riker got to shine toward the end, but Picard and Data were the main focus yet again. Also, there was a planet scene that was just too grainy. Shinzon's chambers were too dark as well. I understand they don't like light, but come on. That being said, I did like this movie dispite the nitpicks.
Janeway was probably promoted to the lowest rank of Admiral which is Rear Admiral (no jokes please.) That's the rank immediately above Captain (as of TNG, the rank of Commodore, which comes after Captain but before Rear Admiral in the US Navy, was not used.)
And did you see Wesley Crusher in the wedding audience? He had a scene but it was cut. If I'm not mistaken he was in a Starfleet uniform as well. Go figure.
Thanks for everyone's comments. I find it amazing that us Star Trek fans are a heterogenous lot, with different expectations and appreciation of the films.
If you consider the box office gross of recent Star Trek films, there is a worrying trend that gross receipts have been falling dramatically since First Contact (which like Heck, I think was the best Star Trek film ever). All the films have been running at a loss (figures at Box Office Mojo) except FC, and I wonder if this brings into question the viability of future films. Even if they decided to make another film, they'd have to wait at least a few more years to increase the fan base, but not too long as the base will decline after a few years as well. It's a tough one to call.

Well Insurrection sucked, that hurt the franchise. I mean, I had to go online and find the title, and I used to be a HGUE Trek fan. That dud really hurt Nemesis, which was a good movie. They need to add more sizzle. I think even a TV movie would bag some good numbers.
i thought Nemesis had a really good look to it. i enjoy watching the dvd for the eye candy. yes the story was weak, but i agree with whidden and sean, bad star trek is good star trek. even with all it's faults i loved Nemesis.
I think the biggest problem with Nemesis was that you had to be familiar with Star Trek to watch it. I watched it with my cousin grandfather and he said he didn't understand one bit if it. Other than that, I thought it was an okay film, but not very good. They could have made it better.
I also liked that Starfleet is getting behind in technology. This little encounter would give their scientists some impetus to work harder.

I mean he is not my direct grandfather. He is my grandfather's brother. Now I realize I should have said granduncle, but in India we call him grandfather. Sorry about the confusion.
