From time to time, I'll see an episode where they drop the ball.
The worst for me was a Voyager episode, where they pull up on this planet and for lack of a better term, get "mind raped".
A pyramid thing on the planet takes over the minds of any ship crew that happens by, and forces them to live out a Vietnam like massacre that happened long ago.
So, after the crew of Voyager goes through this, Janeway decides to power up the pyramid mind en-trapper for another 1000 years. Chacotay argued with her for awhile about it, but she stood firm and repaired that sucker.
She got this far away look in her eyes, like she was doing some great thing.
The trouble with tribbles. I remember when it was a new episode, the Enterprise is taken over by little aliens that look like my moms slippers. I even remember saying to my friend ''this is stupid, lets watch Gomer Pyle''
I despised the ones where there would be some voyage back in time and suddenly the crew would find themselves amongst historically significant figures like TNG's episode "Time's Arrow II" where the crew meets Samuel Clemens, just happens to bump into Guinan's ancient self just "hanging around" with good `ole Mark Twain; oh and Jack London happened to be there. Data gets his head blown off in a horrible trans-dimensional incident and they recover it in the future some hundreds of years, screw it back on, and amazingly Data is perfectly OK. It bothers me that Star Trekker's can never travel back in time without running into someone they "know".
Eh... I dunno... The Journey Home was pretty enjoyable, I thought.... all the stuff that happens in the holodeck is pretty cool, and I enjoyed whatever episode it was where Q forces them to live out Robon Hood:

Oh, and those tribbes were AWESOME.... they have become a trademark of the Original Series... they even have electronic stuffed tribbles!
Mike, you have the electronic stuffed tribble, don't you?
Scary, I am the only woman in this forum. I did not like any of the original series, but I loved Next Generation.
The worst Trek idea was a character that came to us from Voyager, a turd named Tuvix. A transporter accident (I think) merged Tuvok and Neelix into a third being (and the uniform gets manipulated too, no less). I think I started hating Voyager that day.

come on mr. grinch. those types of shows were nice diversions. just a bit o' fun.
but i do concur with the general consensus on the substance of tuvix.
Okay, well what about the movie with the giant foil cigar that narry would leave earth in peace unless they sling-shot around the sun back in time to 1986 and obtained two hump-back whales to return to the future with. "Transparent Aluminum" is used as a bargaining chip.
Now that whole film was basically one, small mistake for Star Trek, one giant disappointment for Hollywood!

okay, i'll give you that one.
i wonder if that's how they pitched the premise to the studio?
Foil cigar... I love it. That was "Journey Home" (the fourth movie, I think). At first, I really didn't like it that much. But after I watched it a few times, I began to pick up stuff, and it turned out (IMHO) to be an OK movie. Certainly not the best, but better than - dear lord - Insurrection.

No, it was 'The Voyage Home'. Anyway, I agree with you. It sucked. Comedy-wise, it was good, but there were so many logical holes that I wonder why didn't Leonard Nimoy complain that Spock would look like an idiot due to the logical inconsistencies?
BTW, can I ask the mod overlords to start another poll as to which Star Trek movie was the best? My vote goes to 'The Undiscovered Country' and 'First Contact'.
p.s. I just checked the Star Trek official site and, holy shmoly, Leonard Nimoy was the one who wrote and directed 'The Voyage Home'. All my respect for him has vanished into thin air.
