so what's next on the silver screen? post #1  quote:

rick berman has gone on record that he doesn't think "nemesis" will be the last star trek film. and it is widely accepted that "nemesis" was the last film that would contain the entire next generation crew.

so what do you all think? should there be another 'passing of the torch' film like 'generations' was? for me 'generations' is my least favorite of the 4 next generation films for that very reason. personally i can't see them just jumping into a new film series without having some of the next generation crew. but seeing as i can't quite get into 'enterprise' and i really can't see DS9 as the heart of a movie, for me voyager would be the likely candidate. i liked voyager's final few seasons. i watched the first season then just lost interest. somehow i found my way back and found it interesting and fulfilling that they actually made it back to earth. like i said, i don't know much about enterprise (my fanaticism lies with next gen) so what do you all think about which characters/series could comprise a new movie?

BRING BACK DATA!!!!!!!!!!

They also should produce a really dark Voyager movie. There should be a bridge between the Enterprise and Voyager, so maybe Voyager has to save the Enterprise from some crazy threat... Maybe they can somehow get Data back, and Data will educate his simple older brother... Yeah, pipe dream........

All the important people from TNG, like Picard, Worf, Geordi, Riker, Beverley, even Wesley (and the Traveller...), should be back. They should introduce a totally new threat, or a revamped threat from either Enterprise or the original series. A revamped threat that was out of contact with the Federation up until some encounter with possibly some sorry ship. The Enterprise is given the mission, they get into trouble, and somehow Voyager is their to assist... I don't know...

I'd just like to see another movie, and this time, it should be something that encompasses all of the series.

i see what you're saying but... the enterprise in trouble!!! methinkest not! but maybe a comingling of riker's new ship and voyager? maybe a stop at DS9 along the way to pick up some old familiar faces that may have been hanging out there in some convenient plot device to justify the reunion? hmmm... i like the idea of some new 'super threat'. that could be interesting.

sierradaddy: like the new sig. i was wondering if someone would use one of those for a sig.

Yeah... I just wanted to add some realism by putting the Enterprise in some danger... It's weird... In the finale of the series, wasn't the only ship to rescue the Enterprise, actually ANOTHER Enterprise? Well, I guess THAT won't happen, but I forgot that Riker is now a Captain. He should get into trouble (not the board game...)... I like that idea. I still need for there to be a teaming up of ships to be satisfied. A re-fitted Voyager, alongside the newest Enterprise, as well as Riker's vessel, lead a stand against this 'new threat' or 'revamped threat from the past'... Riker's vessel could be the least of the 3 ships, but his ingenuity could play a role in the protection of the Federation and the halting of the threat. I think that could work. I would also hope for the return of Data, like was done in The Search For Spock... Larke, let's get down to business and get this script going!!

I had to add that quote to my sig. It was too good to pass up! Thanks for sharing!

They need a big war pic.

Kind of like the last seasons of Deep Space Nine. Romulans, Klingons, Federation, all fighting the Dominion.

Then you can bring in Voyager, Enterprise, etc.

Get all the characters from the different shows. Maybe not the current Enterprise unless you do some kind of time warp thing.

Doesn't have to be the Dominion, some major invading force would do.

Paramount needs to drop some big money in it, get some major special effects. They need to get a good director.
Star Trek 10 was a disappointment though, so odds of getting a big budget for 11 are pretty rough.

And the most important thing. Get back in touch with the fan base. They want to see the little people. They want Crusher and Troy and Barkley. That's who they want in the movie.

We don't like it when we see Dr. Crusher for 5 minutes the whole movie, but have to watch a no-name actor not part of the Star Trek universe get better air time.

The last 2-3 seasons of DS9 was the last time good Trek was on television. The rest was and has been on par, at best. I like Enterprise and I think they did the right thing with the story arc this year.

I tried really hard to like Voyager. During the series there were so few episodes I enjoyed. They ruined the Borg and Q for me, the new aliens were stale and the character development was non-existant. Sure, a couple of the crew members hooked up, but come on. Jeri Ryan's character salvaged the series, IMHO, and she would almost have to be in the next movie.

A new movie that brings characters from TNG, DS9, and VOY would work, but there cannot be yet another Picard/Data-centric feature. It's been done.

is Nicholas Meyer still alive? he directed 'wrath of khan' which is considered one of the best in the series. i loved the look of 'nemesis'. though i will cede that the story was weak.

what about John Woo?

but seriously, who would be a good director for the next star trek? i think the fans deserve a big name director to try and revitalize the series. spend a little extra dough this time around and really kick start a new beginning. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

John Woo. That would be hilarious. Remember all the anti-gravity impossible air kicks in Mission Impossible Two?

That would make some sense in the Star Trek universe. Picard doing a triple back flip kick into a borgs head.

As much as I liked Voyager, I can't see the producers making a movie out of it, seeing that the premise of the series was to get back to earth, and this they achieved in the last episode. Likewise I can't see them making a movie based on DS9 either. I would imagine that Enterprise will be the natural successor to the Star Trek movies. It has the right 'feel' to it, just like TNG did. Unfortunately, like Larke, I can't seem to get into the groove of Enterprise. The next movie will probably come out in 2-3 years' time so Enterprise would have garnered enough fans to justify a movie out of it.
A sensible option as all of you have mentioned is to combine elements from DS9, Voyager and Enterprise, but I think the film would lose its focus due to the myriad of characters in the 3 series. And obviously since Enterprise is set in the past, they'd have to do the time-travelling business once again, which frankly has become tiresome.

My wish however is for Voyager to be made into a film.

I wouldn't mind seeing a movie that ties together the crews of TNG, DS9 and Voyager.. perhaps after Voyager's return. Something that catches us up with their present. Perhaps something that involves time travel and a confusing paradox (I love those) and they could even run into the Enterprise crew w/Captain Archer to pull everything together except the Kirk era - those actors are all too old to represent their original characters reasonably well anymore.

Smile; It confuses people.

How about a movie with TNG crew that ties into Enterprise. Since time travel plays a huge part of the plot of Enterprise, it's only fitting that the Suliban could have an interaction with the TNG Enterprise. Maybe it would be cool to see Capt. Riker commanding a ship and a cameo by Adm. Picard.
