Not read the comic, but I've read about the movie production....
Ron Pearlman (of Beauty and the Beast fame from the 80's...) is starring as Hellboy. Hellboy is supposed to be a demon who found his way to our dimension as a child, and grew up here. He has two horns that protrude from his forehead, but he cut them off as a child in an attempt to look more normal... What's weird and pointless about that is, he's a demon who stands pretty tall, weighs something like 230 lbs, has crimson skin, and his right hand is made out of ROCK... He uses that hand to bash things...
The storyline seems interesting enough, but casting Selma blair as Hellboy's love interest may have been a mistake...
Also, Hellboy's best friend is a mer-man named Abe, who needs a breather aparatus full of sal****er in order to breath on land! I think I'll check this one out!
Edit: Ok, I'll say that Abe needs a breather full of seawater, instead of salt-water...

p.s. What is t-w-a-t?
ROFL
That was great! t-w-a-t is another term - considered derogatory - for a very special part of the female anatomy... I'll leave it at that...
I'm beginning to get a little worried about the success of this movie... They cast Selma Blair as the love interest... I don't think that was a good move..... To me, she's not leading lady material... Maybe she'll prove me wrong, but I think that it's risky... Then again, this isn't your typical movie...
At one point, penis was a bleeped word. Marc Flemming realized and changed it...
The problem I have with the eye-candy theory, is that in Maxim there was an article on this film. The actors were interviewed during production, and Blair was quoted saying something to the effect that she's fully clothed all the time, and it's unfortunate because her bosom was augmented (not a permanent job, just accessories to her costumes in the film...), but it isn't really shown that much. She was a bit upset that there weren't more skin shots so she could show them off......
So, if she's gonna be clothed from neck to ankle for most of the movie, shouldn't the part go to someone who can act better?
I hear you SD. Sometimes though, the studio will force an actor into a movie or vice versa. Blair could have had like a three picture deal and wasn't biting on any of the projects or she used her contract as leverage to get the role. Who knows. Maybe the director just wants to get some.
The first time I saw Selma Blair, was in Cruel Intentions. I think that's the movie, anyways... She wasn't that big of a deal. She's not in the Pamela Anderson mould. She's more like a younger, kinda cuter version of Neve Campbell. She's got the look of a tease about her... I haven't seen her perform at a level that wowed me. Her acting is kind of like... Not good... It's definitely not leading-lady or main-love-interest calibur...
SD, summed her up good. She reminds me of that Katie Holmes girl. Both are next-door neighbor, kid sister cute. Since their not my sisters, I would mack em'.
Selma was in Cruel Intentions, she kissed what's her name... uh, Buffy. That's all I remember about that movie.
