Usually these teasers provoke some thought and give some hints to speculate about. This one is weird.
-- I can't even guess who'll get shocked by a ray ... would it make Jon's hair curlier ?
-- Food bounty was the buffet and the rising energy levels seem to fit former Morganites since they were both lazy and starving. Coup also makes me think Morgans,
but not necessarily.
There's 9 individuals and in an even split, 5 votes are needed to boot someone. So the women could do it easily.
If the 3 former Morgans could reel Lil back in and say ... Jon, they could eliminate Rupert which would, in a way be overthrowing the "leader" of Drake
However, if a few people can be fooled into throwing their votes the wrong way, a boot can be accomplished with a simple majority.
-- An "unlikely" couple could be just about anyone. For example, Burton and either Sandra or Christa since Sandra doesn't like him and he doesn't like Christa ? Maybe Jon and Rupert ... or for that matter -- Jon and anyone
:::Sigh:::
Hurry Thursday !!!

When they showed the previews, it looked like Burton was standing at the rear side of the ray, with a knife in his hand, and jumped back, almost in pain when he tried to cut it open.
I think that Saundra and Christa were standing in the ocean, talking about a different kind of stratedgy. Who knows... this game is going to be taking a lot of twist and turns now that it's individuals that are having to win immunity, and not an entire tribe.
As for the unlikely couple... it will most likey be two people who don't get along at all previously. This always happens, and they either truly end up getting along and having some sort of pact, or they just pretend, and really try to get rid of each other, secretly.

Ah ... I must have been distracted and missed Burton and the ray .. either that or I just forgot.
I also don't recall seeing the fray involving Rupert that Delta mentioned in the other thread.
This stuff happens when the old creeps into butafan
I do remember the girls talking in the water -- and did I hear Sandra say "Rupert provides all my meals" or something along those lines ?

As the chill of the morning crept into the Balboa camp, Lillian Morris, the 51-year-old scout troop leader from Cincinnati, Ohio, celebrated her renewed life in the game by being the first to rise and get to work. Not sharing the same sentiment and realizing his strongest ally was recently voted out, former Morgan tribe member Ryan pondered his fate within the tribe, saying, "I'm basically next on the chopping block and it sucks."
FISHING FOR AN ALLIANCE
While setting out on a fishing expedition, Ryan tried to create an alliance with Burton Roberts, the 31-year-old marketing executive from San Francisco, California. Ryan pleaded with Burton to recruit other Balboa members in order to vote out the former Drake alliance of Rupert, Sandra and Christa. "What he's saying is he could get himself, Darrah and Tijuana. If I could get Lill, we could have five, run them out and then go from there," noted the uncommitted Burton.
HIGH VOLTAGE FOOD
Returning from his fishing trip, Burton presented the tribe with a stingray that provided quite a shock, as it was an electric ray. But that didn't stop the tribe from cooking it and enjoying its meat. Tijuana Bradley, the 27-year-old pharmaceutical sales rep from St. Louis, Missouri, reveled in the rags to riches experience of going from the Morgan to Balboa, explaining, " Food, food, food. Everything is nice over here. They have food all the time; it's so not where I come from. They've got it going well. They got great food. Rupert does a lot of fishing and hunting. Burton, he caught the stingray so it's very exciting for me."
REWARD CHALLENGE: SIGNAL FIRE
As Balboa converged for the first individual Reward Challenge, Host Jeff Probst explained that the tribe would use slingshots to fire marbles at targets. Each time a target is hit, it would ignite a flame that would climb up to the next target. The first person to hit their three targets in ascending order would advance to the final heat. The castaways' mouths watered as they heard the reward, which consisted of everything that comes with a great breakfast including pancakes and syrup, bacon and eggs, sweet rolls, orange juice…all to be eaten and enjoyed in a remote, picturesque location.
Sandra Diaz-Twine, the 29-year-old office assistant from Ft. Lewis, Washington, started the competition with her marble shattering the target, but Ryan won the first heat with his marksmanship. The second heat was no contest for Rupert Boneham, the 39-year-old troubled teens mentor from Indianapolis, Indiana, who hit three targets in a row to advance to the final heat. The third heat was taken by Lillian, who beat out Tijuana in a close match. The final heat was not much of a contest as Rupert's keen eye took aim and shattered the hopes of others to easily win the challenge. In a charitable move, Rupert decided to offer his breakfast to Burton, who then picked Lill to join him as his breakfast date.
BREAKFAST CLUB
After a journey across the sea, Lill and Burton landed on a scenic remote island and were treated to a breakfast buffet like no other. Enjoying the breakfast given to him by Rupert, Burton ironically exclaimed, "Here's the deal, we got to get Rupert off right now." The plan was hatched for Lill to eliminate Rupert as soon as possible by creating an alliance with Tijuana and Darrah while lying to Christa and Rupert.
Back at camp, Sandra and Christa were contemplating a similar idea as they decided to vote out Rupert and Burton over any of the girls. However, Sandra recognized a problem and pointed out, "Me and Christa definitely do feel vulnerable because Burton and Rupert are the only ones that bring anything from the ocean to us to eat."
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: MIXED NUTS
As the Balboa tribe met for the individual Immunity Challenge, Jeff Probst explained that the competition involved a trivia test of sorts based on local pirate lore. Those who answered correctly would get to place coconuts in the bins of those who answered the questions wrong. When a castaway received five coconuts, that tribe member would be out of the game. The last castaway standing would win immunity.
The game had barely begun before Ryan had received five coconuts and was eliminated. The challenge came down to Rupert and Christa. Rupert answered the last question correctly, and he placed the fifth coconut in Christa's bin securing his immunity for that night's Tribal Council.
RYAN SCRAMBLES FOR SURVIVAL
Knowing he was on the chopping block, Ryan attempted to create alliances with Burton, then Tijuana and Darrah. Rupert feared Ryan's attempts could be successful, saying, "Ryan has the potential to band T and Darrah and maybe suck Jon and Burton in, and give them five people that they could just steamroller over all of us."
Rupert's fears went unrealized as the Balboa crew choose to vote off Ryan in an eight to one decision, making Ryan the eighth castaway to be voted off SURVIVOR: PEARL ISLANDS. Ryan becomes the first member of the Jury and will ultimately be part of the vote to decide who will win the million-dollar prize and title of sole Survivor.
BALBOA CUTS ANOTHER MORGAN: RYAN VOTED OFF
On night twenty-four, after a tension-filled Tribal Council, Ryan Opray, the 31-year-old electrician from Los Gatos, California, was ousted in a resounding eight to one decision. Ryan became the first member of the Jury and will return every three nights to observe Tribal Council in order to ultimately decide who will be the sole Survivor. Shortly after leaving Tribal Council, Ryan stated, "I thought I'd be in this 'til the end. I knew I wasn't a quitter, but I think I had no idea how tough I was."

Yep, tonight was a night of promises broken... lies spun, and then some!!
Well, I guess we now know, FOR SURE, that Burton is a liar, and a jerk.
I am SO glad that Rupert won immunity... I don't want him to leave.
I couldn't believe that he gave up his reward challenge gift... I don't care WHAT Burton did last time. Rupert should have gone.
I was ABSOLUTELY shocked that Burton and Lill did not bring a scrap of food. There is ALWAYS something brought back. And, if they haven't brought something back, it's always been stated that they weren't allowed to. What crap... I would have brought some bacon or sausage back for the others. They are all in need of food.
Did you see the very end, where Ryan was saying his little bye bye, and they show everyone's votes? The ENTIRE tribe, including T and Darrah, voted Ryan off. I was shocked. WOW!!!
Anyway... it's going to start getting really bad now. Everyone is trying to "bed" others, for their own purposes, and getting them on their side, only to be screwed over somewhere else, by someone else.
Do I think that Ryan was the right choice to go tonight? I don't think that it was a bad decision... but I would have gone after someone else, I think.
:::>^..^<::: ~*~The Journey is more important than the end or the start~*~ :::>^..^<:::
Rupert is smart, he knows if he left for the reward, everyone would gang up on him and talk about him while he was gone. He gave it away so he could stay and keep an eye on things.
They made it look like Rupert was getting the ax last night, he really did need the imunity.
I hope that he can too. The one thing about Rupert... if he makes a pact with you, he keeps it. That's why he get's so upset over people who pretend to have a pact with him, and then they break it.
I'm waiting for Burton to break his promise to Lill. And the fact that he did a Scouts Honor means nothing, other than it shows that he is really a liar at heart. You don't give someone your word and then stab 'em in the back.

Thanks for the recap, KJ. They only forgot to add"
"In another ironic twist, Ryan Opray the electrician, is voted out when they need him most --- to channel the electricity from the stingrays."
As I said in the strategy thread -- I think they messed up by taking out Ryan instead of Burton. Rupert, Christa, Sandra could easily have enlisted the 3 former Morgans to take out Burton OR Lil.
The (questionable) strategy may have been to try cut the possibilities of Morgan ties down the line ... however Burton and Jon are now in the drivers' seats if the women don't get it together.
Sadly The rumor mill says Rupert is going this week ( week 10 ) and they ( the rumors) seem to be pretty accurate thus far.
If the women, sans Lil, allow this to happen and take Rupert out before Burton, they are dang fools. Rupert can do so much more and at least has proven himself trustworthy. Burton is much more dangerous and has proven himself to be so.
By the way ...
At breakfast and on the way there -- Burton also directly and clearly declared his dishonesty and willingness to lie and cheat to Lil.
What happenned to our Scoutmaster's "character" ?
Was she listening to Burton and is allowing someone else to lie FOR YOU not dishonest ? ... or did Lil have breakfast sausages in her ears and didn't hear enough to read between the lines ?
She should FLY to all the women and tell them what's happening. Although I disapproved at the time ... Lil is the one who betrayed Nicole's trust and sold her out straitaways !
Lil attaches herself to the tails of men. Maybe she thinks she has a better chance playing the poor old gal with the guys ... and the women wouldn't bite. The woman would see right through and be much less susceptible and sympathetic to tears and histrionics. They'd probably tell her to get a grip and grow up !
In any case ... if the women don't band together and allow control to fall in Burton's and/or Jon's hands they are cooked, and it will be a Burton, Jon Lil final 3. If they don't see this, I will only be able to say what the heck are they smoking ?

How in the world did Lil screw Nicole over? Nicole told lies and was confronted on it. Lil did nothing wrong on week one. She wasn't going to accept an outright lie and boot someone off, when Nicole was the one who deserved it.

These are excerpted from some recaps:
.................
From an online ( admittedly sarcastic) recap of Episode 1:
The consensus seems to be that Ryan Shoulders will be voted out at tribal council. That is until Nicole makes a really stupid move by approaching Lillian to see if they can work together to oust Tijuana from the island. In an effort to earn the merit badge for cutthroat backstabbing, Lillian tells the group about Nicole's plan and everybody takes her side.
....................
From Nicole Delma's visit to The Early Show Friday morning to talk about it:
Nicole's biggest mistake may have been trying to form an alliance with Lillian, the Boy Scout leader, who cannot tell a lie. Nicole's original plan was to oust Tijuana, with whom she was having a personality conflict. Nicole turned to Lillian, but soon learned the tribe majority would be voting off Ryan Shoulders.
Since Lillian and Ryan were close, Nicole thought Lillian may have wanted to know about the group's decision to dismiss Ryan. Lillian took the opportunity to save Ryan by revealing her prior discussions with Nicole to the tribe, which unanimously sent Nicole packing.
......................
So, according to Nicole, she was trying to help save Ryan and went to Lillian to suggest Tijuana instead. Obviously she trusted (and underestimated) Lillian.
I know if I had been Nicole, I probably would have kept my mouth shut period and let the chips fall where they may. But perhaps Nicole was being shunned by Tijuana who seemed to have a few of the others in her pocket and went where she felt safe -- to Lillian.
I'm not sure what I would have done in Lil's position.
-- I would like to say I would have said nothing and voted my own heart/gut. BUT ... once Nicole told Lil that Ryan S was on the block first ... Lil HAD to know she was next. Further, in order to go with Nicole's plan to boot T instead of Ryan, Lil would have had to approach others with the plan instead of isolating herself with Ryan. This would have been taking a big chance.
Lil could have tried to diffuse the hostilities between T & Nicole and then get ALL the women on board as well as RyanS and boot one of the men ... but this too would have been taking a chance and Lil & RyanS were already seen as weak and the other women might not have gone along with it.
In the end, Lil chose the safest if not kindest route in selling out Nicole in order to save Ryan and herself, albeit for only a couple of weeks.
I still can't figure out why Lil didn't try to position herself more as Andrew's equal rather than putting herself at his mercy ... and why Lil and RyanS isolated themselves and let themselves continue to be considered valueless.
Sheesh ! She's a Scoutleader. She above all should have known what the MAP with the WATERHOLE on it was for !
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye."
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Well, the whole thing with that... Nicole went to Lillian and told a lie. That's what she did. She went to Lillian and said that T was going to vote off her or Ryan... and so Lillian went to T and confronted her. She asked T if that was her plan. T asked Lillian where she heard that from, and Lill told the truth. She didn't do one thing. I remember that episode quite well... and all Lill did was confront the person she was told said that it was her or Ryan. That's all... and I would have done the same thing. When T found out that Nicole went to Lill and lied to her, and told her that it was T's idea, that is how the tribe found out.
Lillian isn't perfect... she isn't even the person that I want to win this thing. But, Nicole deserved what she got... and Lillian didn't lie at all regarding that situation.
