Oh man, was I ever a teen of the 80's. I loved it. My favorite thing in the 80's... Def Leppard. I'm STILL a huge fan of the band!!!!
Music was the best thing about the 80's, and it still is today. I can't think of another era of music that I would rather listen to. There was just something about it.
What did I hate about the 80's? Hmm... that will take some thinking.

I agree with KJ, the best thing about the eighties was the music. I had my 20th high school reunion just recently, and the music they played was great...Every song was awesome!!
Bad things about the eighties....easy one...BIG HAIR! Yuck! Why was it necessary for everyone to have hair that big? Remember the movie working girl? Remember the hair Joan Cusack wore? (she played Melanie Griffith's best friend in the movie) THAT is the hair Im talking about! LOL!! Gross!
I would put hot rollers in my hair every morning to have hair like that.....when I think about it...I cringe! LOL!!

I love guys in make up... NOT as a cross dresser, but, the rock bands, guys with big hair. I just always thought that it was sexy. Hmmmm, and I WONDER why I am like I am now.
I loved shows like... Growing Pains and The Cosby Show.
I loved bands like... well, you already know that I LOVE Def Leppard. There was Duran Duran, Echo and the Bunnymen, Oingo Boingo. Rock bands like Motley Crew, Quiet Riot, Ratt, etc... Pat Benatar, Journey, Foreigner, and the list can go on and on and on.
I loved movies like... The Breakfast Club, Pretty In Pink, 16 Candles, Top Gun, Dirty Dancing, Ferris Bullers Day Off.

Do you remember when you went to the video store, and the only choice that you truly had to make was VHS or Beta? Wow... look how far we've come. Thank god... because DVD's are a GREAT invention.

Parachute pants I could have done without, but torn jeans were SO cool. What about them having to be so tight you would have to lay on your bed to zip them! LOL! Ahhhh...those were the days!

Oh man... albums were so cool. And, how about when you had albums, you would sit in your room, and play them backwards, over and over!!! I can remember doing that and having a blast.

Yeah, it was sure a lot of fun!!! And the media played right along with it. There would always be something out there for them to stip up, and we would all rush out and buy the record.
One of my favorite things to do in the 80's... well, I bought every single magazing that had Def Leppard in it and I made photo albums. I must have had at least a dozen, with hundreds of pages in each, filled about the guys. And, I had Def Leppard pictures all over my walls. My parent's hated that. From the ceiling to the floor. There was NO paint showing. And my door, and closet doors were also covered. My ceiling had tapestries pinned up there. I was a huge fan.

Good: Boom boxes! Those were so cool. I had a big one that took 12 d size batteries. I would plant that sucker on my chest and listen to the radio, and take a nap.
The thump of the bass to all those 80's tunes would change the rythim of your heartbeat.
I would listen to the Rick Deeze (spelling?) weekly top 40 and they would all be good.
I was so naive, I thought that good music would last forever.
You still hear some good music today, but it seemed like it was all good back then. Maybe being a teenager had something to do with it. I think the teens from the 50's and 60's say the same thing.
Bad: the cold war. I liked Reagan a lot, he was like John Wayne kind of, but with the Ruskies hacked off all the time, the nation spent a lot more time thinking about nuclear war, etc. back then.
Ahhh, The 80's. How I loved the music. I was into Billy Idol-had my wall covered with his pictures. I also loved Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, Oingo Boingo, Def Leopard. I also LOVED my Izod shirts. I had so many of them, and the blazer, the penny loafers.
I hated parachute pants. They were way too tight and why teenage boys liked them, well I was shocked. Actually liked them at the time, hate em now. I also hated the hair bands. Guys with long hair and makeup. Yuck. They looked like girls.
Does anyone else have a ton of 80's compilation CD's?

I love the eighties big hair. It was so cool. Other things I love about the eighties are:
Big Shoulder Pads
Leg Warmers
The Michael Jackson look
God, come on guys admit it, you wore a red leather jacket everywhere when Michael was cool, maybe you even wore one white glove? HILARIOUS.
