SEASON PREMIERE! The Cylons have occupied the human settlement of New Caprica, and it's been three months since the Galactica, the Pegasus, and a handful of ships escaped into deep space. But the fight is not over. On New Caprica, a resistance has begun and despite having only a handful of untested pilots at his command, Admiral Adama is committed to risking everything on a daring attack to rescue the people he left behind.

Sweet, have to make sure the DVR is on point. I will try to get on this weekend to rap about it.

AICN gave it 5 out of 5 stars, they're usually spot on about shows I dig so that's good news.

It was like a reboot. They were able to change all the characters fundamentally in an instant. Usually bad shows do that when something is wrong. I think it was a mild gamble that should pay off.

My hat is off to Ron Moore though. I've always had faith in him. He likes to shake up shows. On Deep Space Nine he had the bad guys take over the station as the DS9 crew was doing all this other stuff in a giant 6 episode arc. It was great.

OMG, I loved it. I sat here, for two hours, and just stared at the television.

I guess we now know what was up with Tigh's eye patch. F'n cylons took out his eye, and made him watch them crush it. That was brutal (even though we only heard about it). I'm wondering if once his back on the BSG, if they can put something in there that will look real.

Starbuck being taken from Anders, and living with that cylon, Leoben. He's infactuated with Kara, and I'm wondering if the leader cylons know about this or not. I'm assuming that they do. And the kid... Kacey? Okay, I wasn't expecting that... but, now she's got these feelings for the kid, or she's playing Leoben, really well, to get away.

Ellen screwing the cylon Cavil, multiple times, to get what she wants, wasn't surprising. Ellen getting information, and taking the map, was. Instead of telling her husband that the cylons are forcing her to do this, or Tigh will be killed, she betrays them.

Was Duck supposed to be the one that they were talking about when they said that "one of the lead characters would die"???? What a way to go.

I love that Sharon has finally be given the trust of Adama, and is back in uniform, and doing what she loves. Now she can be with Helo.

Lee was definitely a putty boy. Damn, they made him look huge! And Adama calling him soft, and telling him to get his fat ass out of his office. Priceless.

Forcing Baltar to sign the death sentence to all those people. Damn, that was a tense scene. He's so messed up, and caught in a place where I bet he never thought he would be. But, he wanted to be the "President" over the 12 Colonies. Look where it got him.

post #15  quote:

OCCUPATION

Four months into the Cylon occupation of New Caprica, the human settlement is a bleak and paranoid place. President Baltar and a newly created human police force are mere tools of the all-powerful Cylon Occupation Authority. But the planet's oppressed residents cling to two frail hopes: that their resistance movement will weaken the Cylons, and that Admiral Adama and his fleet will return to rescue them all.

Kara Thrace has been a prisoner of the Cylon named Leoben since the occupation began. He has confined her to an apartment and treated her with unusual civility. Although she resists him violently, he calmly downloads to a new body whenever she kills him. Her surreally domestic surroundings and his maddening immortality drive her to desperation. For his part, Leoben confidently believes that, with the help of his God, he can win over his prisoner's mind and heart.

Col. Tigh, by contrast, languishes in a barren cell until his wife, Ellen, secures his release by sleeping with the Cylon leader Cavil. Now missing an eye because of Cylon torture, Tigh swiftly reunites with the insurgency's leaders, Tyrol and Anders. Tyrol has obtained security plans for a police graduation ceremony, and a disillusioned police trainee, Duck, volunteers to blow himself up at the event. Horrified, Tyrol argues that this act crosses a moral line. Tigh, however, insists that it's just a military tactic, like sending a soldier out to die on a traditional battlefield. He approves the plan, and Duck begins preparations for his suicide mission.

Far out in space, Admiral Adama presides over a diminished and dispirited fleet. His son, Lee, commander of the Pegasus and new husband of Lt. Dualla, resents his father's obsession with rigorous training for a rescue mission to New Caprica. Lee refuses to believe the mission can succeed; his father doesn't dare believe that it can't. At odds with his son, the Admiral's closest confidant has become the Cylon prisoner Sharon, who has slowly earned his respect and trust.

Then, in a major breakthrough for their cause, the insurgents successfully radio a hidden Raptor that Adama has ordered to observe New Caprica. Through this tenuous contact, Adama and Tigh reaffirm their determination to rescue the planet's human population. But this glimmer of hope is overshadowed as Tigh's grimly determined suicide bomber takes his place among the police graduates and ignites a tragedy.

PRECIPICE

The Cylon leaders are frustrated by Duck's horrific suicide bombing, which they perceive as a setback to their noble experiment of living peacefully with humans. As a result, they order the human police to arrest hundreds of suspected insurgents in a major crackdown. Though the insurgency's leaders Tyrol, Anders and Tigh miss the round-up because they're radioing the Galactica from their hidden headquarters, Tyrol returns home to the agonizing sight of his baby, abandoned and crying. His wife, Cally, has disappeared into a Cylon prison.

Laura Roslin urges Tigh to stop the suicide bombings. He refuses, and soon another insurgent blows herself up at a power substation. In retaliation, the Cylon leaders force President Baltar to sign a death warrant for two hundred suspected insurgents, including Cally, Tom Zarek and Roslin. At this, both Gaeta and Jammer, former Galactica officers who have collaborated with the Cylons, develop serious second thoughts about their new allegiances. But second thoughts won't be enough to save their fellow humans from the firing squad.

Elsewhere on New Caprica, Leoben brings a special guest to visit Kara Thrace: a little girl named Kacey. He insists that Kacey is his and Kara's biological daughter, a product of Cylon fertility experiments. Kara resolutely ignores Kacey until the toddler is accidentally injured. Then, as Kacey hovers near death, Leoben is glad to see that Kara's maternal concern awaken.

Meanwhile, on the Galactica, Adama dispatches a small team to meet up with Tigh's resistance fighters on New Caprica. Lee objects to such a risky mission, especially because Sharon Agathon, a Cylon, is to lead it. Adama concedes that Lee and the Pegasus must lead the remainder of the civilian fleet deeper into space for their safety, while he and the Galactica will attempt to rescue those on New Caprica. Adama reinstates Sharon as a lieutenant in the Colonial Fleet, and she departs.

Back on New Caprica, Ellen Tigh has another tryst with Cavil. He threatens that Tigh will be arrested and tortured again unless Ellen provides the Cylons with significant information about the insurgency. Terrified, Ellen tells the Cylons about the planned rendezvous between Anders and the reinforcements arriving from the Galactica. With their Centurions about to execute two hundred prisoners and an ambush set to gun down Anders and Sharon, the Cylon leaders are poised to cut out the insurgency's heart.

At the end, it looked like the Robot units took out Roslin and crew. But we just heard the gunshots.

Then for the previews, it shows Roslin in the storyline. So perhaps it's a colonial rescue, and those are the shots we hear as the Chiefs wife is running away.

I was into it last night. I would give it a solid A.

You know, the show is very political, they pull it off, it works, but often I'm leaning back, thinking the whole deal is just too real. Suicide bombers?

Damn. I normally tune into shows for escapism, Battle Star is skating the edge of being too real. Last season it was abortion, this season it's suicide bombers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, just saying it's real close to the line. Maybe that's what makes it so good, I dunno.

I loved how Starbuck has been killing that dude over and over, and he just keeps coming back. I think that she is playing him. I hope so. I wouldn't want that kid, no matter how cute she was.

Thing is a fregin abomination! half toaster/half human. Whatever!
I'm hoping she plays all 50's wife on his sorry ***, then kills him again and gets outta dodge.

I guess that Boomers kid is around the same age now as Starbucks, as we did that 1.5 years jump ahead in the storyline thing.

Things I learned:

Xena's never been in love. I thought she cared for Gabrielle?

Toaster units can't tell the other Cylons apart from each other.

There is some kind of sexual move involving a "Twist" and old people sex.

Starbuck doesn't like to wash her hands before meals, even when they are all bloody.

Starbucks cylon hubby wannbe is a right wing Christian, as he prayed to the heavenly father over dinner.

That Boomer is looking as fine as ever, even more so.

I thought the episode was great. It took about 5 minutes to quash any notion that the new season wouldn't be as good.

Lee Adama needs a new handle, so instead of Apollo I think he should either be called: Dough Boy, Cheesecake, Milky Way or Gravy. I'll let you decide. They did a good job with that fat suit though.

Is it me or are there too many kids and marriages? Dough Boy and Duella? Tyrell and that broad he beat in the face last season? Meh, lame.

Good Boomer is cool, hope she stays on.

Stupid whore Mrs. Tigh and her whorey ways. I hope she gets Cylon VD.

Helo is still the man. Anyone else noticed when Caprica/BSG/Good Boomer was getting sworn in she was called 'Sharon Agathon'? Helo's last name- another marriage. I hope he gets more lines this season.

Gaeda is cool for hooking up La Resistance.

Col. Tigh with a patch will be cool. He's even more grizzled than ever now.

Sr. Adama needs to cut the mullet and porn-stache.

I hear you Whizzle on the suicide bombers, but BSG has mirrored real life events from day one. The whole premise of the show echos 9/11 as does the quasi moral decisions they've made the past few years.

Starbuck is hot.

That is all.

Doghh Boy, and Cheesecake! He definitely put on the pounds, and his daddy called him on it. And when his wife said something about it too, but that she still loved him, I was craking up! He will slim down soon though. He just needs an ass whooping, mentally, and all will be good.

Hey, I did notice the name when Sharon was sworn in... but, didn't put two and two together. So, they are married, eh?! Cool... because I love them together. Helo has stood by his woman since the beginning. And I hope that he gets more air time too.

In the previews for next week, Adama has that porn 'stache shaved off. And, his hair cut shorter, once again, too. He's looking back like a Admiral of the military.

I'm wondering what happens when the peeps on NC are rescued, and escape, will Roslin become the President again? I don't think that Baltar will go with them... or, if he does, will people trust him, and be willing to follow him? I sure as hell wouldn't. And, once Gaeda tells people that Baltar signed off for those 200 people to be assassinated, they will want to lynch him.

I don't know what will happen with the collaborators. But, you heard Jammer... they thought that they were doing something good, to help out the humans, and got fooled.

I don't think they were exactly previews for next week. I think it's over the next several weeks.

Remember, they don't get off NC for another few episodes. Also in the preview, Cheesecake was thin again. I think it could be a while before we see that Baltar - 6 deal. Or it could be next week, dunno.

In the old series, Baltar followed the fleet in a Cylon Base Star of his own. I'm thinking our Baltar will wind up in some position of authority, and hang out on a base star in pursuit.

Really, it's the only way to keep the character on the program. He can't go back to the fleet, not after what he as done. And they can't kill him. All he can do is hang out with the Cylons and be a full blown out traitor.
