A roll-call of America's biggest names lit up the red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday night, when the Emmy awards were handed out. Stars like Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Aniston were met by a blaze of flashbulbs as they arrived at the sumptuous Shine Auditorium.
The Sex And The City star lived up to her stylish reputation in a strapless black lace dress with a Chanel Couture sash. The diminutive performer, who won the gong for best comedy actress, said her husband Matthew Broderick had chosen the outfit.
Also dressed to impress was Jennifer Aniston, who was looking characteristically radiant in a white Chanel number with gold detail. "It's a little Bohemian, raggy thing with a little bling, bling," she said.
But it wasn't just the fashion police who had reason to celebrate. Hollywood veterans Al Pacino and Meryl Streep were named best actor and best actress in a miniseries, thanks to their roles in the Aids drama Angels In America. "There are some days I think I am overrated, but not today," said Meryl.
The prestigious gong for best drama was meanwhile spirited away by The Sopranos. After losing out on four previous occasions, the mafia series finally managed to fend off a political challenge from The West Wing.
