For Fun I bought a truck..89 ford f150 302v8 5 speed. It has no rust and the paint looks great. I knew up front I needed to repair it.
New tires. new spare too.
new brakes
Two new window regulators. (elect windows)
Plugs,wires,cap and rotor.
New Wind shield. (previous owner got caught with another woman)
Wiper blades
Better sound system.
All of this was minor to me. However this truck was Infected with a engineering flaw, a flaw that in time distroys the engine.
Im driving on the express way and I dont seem to have all my Horse power.
It was the Converters. They 'Plug up. Ford put two in line. So if the front starts to shed..the second "Plugs". This creates a very high back pressure. this causes Head gasket failure, Intake gasket blow out, high pressure in the cooling system and heater leaks and Rod bearing failure.
So what causes the converter to Shed? The Ford ECU has a programming flaw. Low octain fuel ...Stuff that is Sold as 87 ron but is really 85 the Ecu cannot comp for it. add this to In-Line converters...Slow death. In fact...ANYTHING that causes the engine to be unstable will cause the converters to Shed.
So..Piss poor programming.+.Cheap materal converters+ and low octain gas =new engine. Fords Better Idea? Like Hell it is!
