| Posted by: Kookaburra | | Do you have a recipe for a pecan pie? Fortunately Georgia is known for it's pecan crop. I can get all I want for free, and they're organic.
I would be interested in recipes using pecans.
Mini survey: do you say: Pe can or Pe con or Pek an?
I say pe con, but most people here say pe can and they look at me funny. But hey.. I'm a yankee transplanted to the south. | | Reply To this Message

That is one of my all time favorite comfort foods! I also like to do the same with rice!
Kooka, I've never made pecan pie (I pronounce it pee-con) but I found one in a google search that might work:
2 Eggs, Slightly Beaten
1 Cup Light Karo Syrup
1/4 Cup Sugar
2 Tablespoons Flour
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1-1/4 Cups Broken Texas native pecans
Preheat oven to 375 deg F.
Spread pecans in an unbaked 9-inch pie shell.
Mix remaining ingredients and pour over pecans.
Bake slowly at 375 deg F. until done, about 1 hour.

| Posted by: San Diego RVT | | I'm not into the fries and vanilla shake thing.....but fries dipped in honey....now that's a winning combo. Anything with the sweet and salty thing going on sounds good to me. | | Reply To this Message

beat 3 eggs with 2/3 cup sugar, 1 dash salt, 1 cup dark corn syrup, and 1/3 cup of melted butter. Add 1 TBS of Southern Comfort-trust me it makes the pie! Add 1 cup pecan halves and pour into 9 inch unbaked pie crust. bake at 350 for 50 min or until knife comes out clean.
Everyone I know who has had this thinks it is the best pecan pie ever. Hope you like it! | | Reply To this Message

| Posted by: Lawless | | Cereal and fresh fruits are a great combination.
Yogurt and granola (or grape nuts cereal) are good as well.
Oh, another good combination... salt and pepper, or peanut butter and jelly, bread and butter, steak and eggs...
Okay... I'm just teasing on that last set. Just thought that it was funny. | | Reply To this Message
