There was a radio talk show host on CNN early this morning who said something which has really made me think. First of all, he was formerly a Vietnam War protester (so this isn't coming from the mouth of some right-wing conservative republican conspiracy ).

His point, which I completely agree with, is that the protesters are protesting against wars ONLY if a nation is attacking another nation. What they fail to realize is that nations can wage wars against their own people, such as Iraq vs the Kurds. Does this go on in other countries as well, sure, but why should that be a reason to not stop it in Iraq ? We have to start somewhere and Iraq is as good of a place as any. We have a dictator, who has demonstrated the willingness to use WMD (and has plenty more of it), that routinely kills his own people, and supports terrorism...how can you morally justify not attacking him.

Essentially, the protesters are complaining that innocent people will die if we attack Iraq. This is true, I don't dispute that in the least. What they fail to realize (or just look the other way) is that if we do NOT attack Iraq innocent people will die. In the case of the latter, that could include thousands of Americans in the form of terrorist attacks, but would at least be limited to thousands of Kurds.

United We Stand. Fear No Evil.

The US supported Saddam's action against the Kurds. We supplied the gas and covered for him at the UN. He hasn't done anything like that since we were friends with him.

So, Retsep, since you have the inside scoop, how many innocent people will die if we do not act? You don't have a clue. All you know is that the war hawks keep saying "Saddam kills his own people". Yeah, they're referring to the US supported attack on the Kurds.

Also, since you know so much, who are the terrorists that Saddam supports? How does he support them? And do you have any evidence or credible sources of info to back up your answers?

PS... Why do you put a space before your question marks? It really annoys me.

How many people will Saddam kill if we don't act ? Probably lots, boviously I can't give you an exact number, just like you can't give me an exact number of civilans that will be killed if we do attack. The last time terrorists attacked America it cost about 3,000 lives, therefore I could venture a guess that the terrorists would try to top that.

"Who are the terrorist that Saddam supports?" I'm glad you asked that. First of all, Iraq gives money tot he families of suicide bombers in Isreal, and he supports Al-Qaeda. More specifically, Abu Musab Zarqawi who is believed to have masterminded the assassination of American diplomat Lawrence Foley, is supported by Saddam. Mr. Zarqawi runs a terrorist training camp in Iraq and is given assistance by the Iraqi government (source: Colin Powell's address to UN, 2/5/2003).

I'm against the war....BUT NOT BECAUSE innocent people will die. But because it's an illigitimate war. If it where a legitimate war, I'd say go in, bomb the $h!t out of them and if people die, oh well, $h!t happens.

Any war, in theory, can be illigitimate as you say. War is just one the ways a nation, country, tribe, etc. deals with another when they feel they are threatened or have had injusticed brought upon them. There is no legitimate/illegitimate in war...it is a process of reasoning and how that nation decides to condone the action which they are about to take. What may be correct for one, is not necessarily correct for another.
