Has anyone else noticed that the number 12 is used over and over in the books?
*Dumbledore used the put outer 12 times
*12 uses of dragons blood
*12 christmas trees
*the troll was 12'
*Neville says "I'm worth twelve of you Malfoy"
*12 Grimmauld place
There are more examples, but I won't post them. I did some searching online and there is an Old English Poem -The Phoenix.
the phoenix rises with the sun, bathes 12 times, drinks water 12 times , and flaps its wings once an hour.

So, does the number 12 connect to Fawkes or does it mean something else?

Wow, that's some good research there. I never noticed that before. If there is a connection, it goes to show another of the many depths with which she is writing the series.

Why in the hell would you go & do research about the #12? Maybe it s the authors favorite #. MAybe the other #'s on the type writter or keyboard don't work. but who cares? i'll give you credit for doing it but damn, ur life must be an open book.

Actually, I noticed it, but I saw an essay on it on another site. So, no I didn't do a lot of research on it. I was just trying to open up some new topics on the board since things slowed down so much. People like to speculate. I had no idea that starting a thread would be so irritating to you. Granted, it was not my best thread, but I as I said, I was attempting to give the Harry Potter board some new ideas. The person who did the essay had about 30 or so examples. I just went by memory.

P.S. the whole purpose of the Harry Potter board is for people to come here and discuss Harry Potter. If you don't want to discuss a topic, then don't. Start a new thread, we will all welcome new ideas.

Yeah, I personally appreciate fuscia's research and think "wow, something I didn't notice"

Though I'm lying, I did notice the repetition of 12, just never really thought it was important... but that phoenix poem really made a possible (very possible) link, didn't it? So perhaps Fawkes is the heart of the whole story. He has appeared throughout the story (from book 2 on, I think), and has saved Harry a couple of times, in small ways, but he/she is a repeating character with something more to him than meets the eye.

i was just sayin, why would a person go to research on a topic like that, thats all. Nothin big. if you wanna discuss potter, i think hes a frickin moron who should die in the last book, it'll be called : "Harry Potter, & the Depths of Hell"

Catchy, no? hahahaha

Luigi... we just have more than enough of that throughout this board, and we really like keeping the HP site friendly. Almost everyone that posts in HP are all the same people, and we just have nice fun.

Anyway... not offended. Post away.
