I stayed up late that night listening to the radio when the Dj came on and said rest in peace Aaliyah, at first i did not want to comprehend what i heard so i let it go. but he kept on saying it and finally he said that Aaliyah, the queen of r&b, along with others, crossed over at 7:15 because her plane crashed. I turned off the radio, got up and got a glass of water because i didnt want to puke, it felt like knives going through my heart. A part of me had been taken away that day and i will never forget it, I love you babygirl. Id like to know where were you?

Aaliyah's Parents Sue - Claim fatal crash was caused by recklessness

Virgin Records, Blackhawk International Airways and members of video companies are being sued by Aaliyah's parents.

Michael and Diane Haughton claim their daughter and eight others were killed in a plane crash that was caused by negligence and recklessness. The suit, filed in Los Angeles, seeks unspecified damages.

The 22 year old Aaliyah was returning to Florida after shooting a video for "Rock the Boat" in the Bahamas last August when the plane went down on takeoff.

The suit claims the pilot was not qualified and that the plane was dangerous and unsafe. A preliminary report by the National Transportation Safety Board said the plane was overloaded.

There has been no comment from Virgin Records or other defendants. Several other lawsuits have been filed by families of other crash victims.
